New string issue
I’m hoping to tap into all the knowledge and experience on this site to answer a pressing question, I bought a beautiful new mountain muffler string to suit my (new to me ) Palmer classic recurve, without knowing the correct string length, brace height should be around 7 3/8”-7 3/4”, this new string has it around 8 1/4”, could that cause a problem ??

@Larry Miller , Larry it shot great, quick and quiet, but I’m just nervous about the brace height difference

@Michael Stenstrom thanks Michael. I think that might be my only option. I’ll have to check my other Bows and see if the string can be used somewhere else.

Just having moved to East Tennessee I’m hoping to find any trad events I can attend, looking forward to the big one in TN next May/ June?? But I’ll be going to the great event in beautiful Los Olivos, wine country CA. Usually 350/450 archers, probably small compared to the big east coast event, but it on a 5,000 acre working ranch, to be honest it’s the only one I’ve ever attended but it’s all addictive.
👋 Hey Guys!...Let's Take The Time To Introduce Ourselves...
My name is Jenn Richardson, my husband, Grant Richardson and I created this group, TradBowhunter - Ethical Predator. We are from Ontario, Canada, I have had a love for the outdoors since I was little. My grandfather being a conservation officer in the United States and my other grandfather a trapper here in Ontario. I have been in Law Enforcement for over 26yrs, love the outdoors, marketing and business so decided to put all three together! This is a passion piece for Grant and I...My hubby being the subject matter expert with Traditional Bowhunting as well as an author, podcast host and 3rd generation traditional bowhunter. We wanted to bring like minded people together and create a place to share their experiences with traditional bowhunting. ----------------- Hey folks! Grant Richardson here - about myself... I was raised in a hunting family. I have Bowhunted with traditional gear all my life and started shooting bows when I was 3. I've been able to hunt all over North America and along the way this past 40 plus years hunting with trad gear I have learned that success is born not from tech or the latest camo but from long cold days in the woods and often- failure. Bows and arrows were always a part of my life and I was lucky to have an upbringing that emphasized time in the woods. I was able to see both the rise of Bowhunting in Ontario and the laws and regulations based on ethics & conservation formed- But - also to see them fall apart to an Industry that focused on the latest and newest tech or gadgets to bring wild game home and not the skillsets I was raised to respect and follow. The very fabric of those primitive weapon/Bowhunting seasons was based on the fact that it was harder to take game with a bow and arrow- simply that it was difficult- but there is the truth that many forgot or perhaps never learned. The Ethical Predator was created from those lessons learned all my life. I helped create this community seeing a need to bring folks from all over the world into a community that supported the old ways, from scouting, tracking & the heritage of Bowhunting I grew up with.

Hi guys. My name is Grant Gilmour. I have seen the number of members grow quickly, and include members from Australia to the US. I thought it only fair to introduce myself as a Kiw,i so now at least we’ve got one Kiwi, if not more. I started on the compound Bow in my mid 40s, but soon found it to be too easy and needed to challenge myself, so after starting with a Bear 45 # Grizzly I moved onto Palmer Long Bow’s and now I have a Palmer Recurve that I’m really enjoying 50# 28”. I’ve been a Chippie, (finish carpenter) all my working life, worked in NZ, OZ, built log homes in Japan, now as a resident of Tennessee, almost retired but still unable to say no if anyone needs help with any aspect of the building trade. 2 3D bucks in the back yard, shooting every day, looking forward to the Tennessee trad get together next year, missed 2025 by a week, Only really hunted in Texas, nth CA and every time I went trout fishing in NZ, always had my Stalker or Palmer longbow with me. Goats, pigs and turkeys. I never tried for one of the many Red deer I saw as I didn’t want to wound a magnificent beast, plus the trout were right there!! Looking forward to growing the Trad experience with this group, I’m sure the group founder, one of them, must be a great guy with a name like Grant!!
