Nick lives next door to a house with a green front door, and calls for Dan on his way to school. 3. Mrs. Brown has a red door. She has no children, but two children pass her house going to school. 4. Dan lives beside the main road, next door to Judy. 5. Ossie lives next door to Wendy and opposite Annie. 6. Jim’s house has a red front door. The question wasn’t answered by the illustration—and the numbers were actually the house numbers and their door colors. 1: Since Annie lives in à house with a green front door and passes all the other houses on her way to school, her house must be number 5 because it has a green front door and to get to the school from there all the houses are passed. 2: Nick lives next to a house with a green front door, so he lives in either house 6 or 2. He calls for Dan on his way to school, so Dan must live somewhere nearby. 3: Mrs Brown has a red door, so she either lives in house 6 or house 1. Two children pass her house going to school, so her house must be number 6. 4: Dan lives beside the main road, so he lives in either house 8 or 1. He lives next door to Judy. 5: Ossie lives next door to Wendy and opposite Annie, so Ossie lives in house 4 and Wendy lives in house 3. 6: Jim’s house has a red front door, so he lives in house 1. So, Nick must live in house 2.
