Self-Introduction
Hi, I'm Grace. I've lived in the States for two years, and I wanted to learn more about American culture and history. Sometimes when native speakers tell a joke, it’s hard for me to get it right away if I don’t know the cultural reference.😅 I'm looking forward to studying with you all from Bannai 💃

@Angel Lin Right?! And even with movies or TV shows, if we don’t know the culture well, it's hard to catch the meaning right away.😔 For instance, I was watching The Studio on Apple TV, and in one episode they discussed avoiding racism in film-making. They mentioned that hiring Black actors to represent Kool-Aid could be seen as controversial. I had no idea until my husband filled me in on the cultural reference. Btw, highly recommend The Studio, is super funny.

@Angel LinOh, I have so many! What kind of movies and TV shows do you enjoy? If I had to pick one in each category, I’d recommend Pluribus for a TV show and The Wild Robot for a movie.
… but what if I told you, there is a better way? 我直覺回答:「so you want me to baste it?」他當下傻眼,因為這個 baste(澆淋 v.) So… What is your thing?

@Rita Kuo If you love true crime, you have to see Mindhunter! It dives deep into the psychology of serial killers — and it’s inspired by real FBI investigations.
Hi !
I’m curious about what the class will be like, and I’m very interested in reading novels. That’s why I’m here. I read Wonder last year, and it was really fun to learn English in this way.

I also enjoy reading, especially at night. What's your favorite genre?

@Chen Yuming When it comes to fiction, I like mystery and romance — or books like Tell Me Everything. For non-fiction, I enjoy memoirs, such as Good Morning, Monster and Maybe You Should Talk to Someone.
Hi everyone
I'm Angel. I’m Amis from Taiwan, and now I live in southern France. I just found out about Bannai through a friend, and I’m excited to join this community! Two Truths and a Lie: 1️⃣ I love eating strawberries. 2️⃣ I have visited more than five countries. 3️⃣ I can speak fours languages: Amis, Mandarin, English and French. Which one do you think is the lie? 😄

Oooh, tricky! My guess is (1) is the lie. Also — five languages?! That’s incredible!
You can call me Rabbit haha
Hello everyone! My name is Hedy. My friends call me Rabbit because I’m always jumping around haha. I’m a travel planner based in Vancouver, Canada. I love exploring different cultures and connecting with people through travel. I’m also a big fan of water, so I once went to Germany to take a water sommelier course. Nice to meet you all!
