Cleats
The issue is after a bike fit. Friend suffering with sore gastonemus (calf muscles) at the top just under the knee. His cleats were pushed back and straight. When he uses flat pedals, his toes naturally go out and his heels move in towards the frame. Does he need to align his cleats off centre to account for this?

1. Off the bike straight after riding 2. It occurs with clipless, Shimano SL or SPD 3. No 4. Three bikes, one bike with flat pedals, road bike Shimano SL, and SPD on spin class bike. 5. Bike with flat pedals is when he notices toes moving out when riding it. 6. He thinks his knees do move out at top. Video attached. 7. He has tight hips and doing exercises to free them up. Doesn't feel pressure on the side of the shoe particularly. He passes on his thanks for feedback.

Bike fit post accident recovery considerations
Road rider, Supersix Evo. Very happy with the fit then 9 months ago hit by a car. 4 fractured vertebrae, 2 dislocated. ACDF operation (cage around C7-T1). Not fully recovered yet (shoulder still an issue). Hope 🤞 to ride outdoors by spring. Currently able to train on indoor bike though not yet in aero position (at 85% of pre-accident ftp 😩). When back to road riding how long to establish if any issues are transient or if change of fit needed? If bike not recoverable (bike still with police as evidence pending driver prosecution) then at what stage would a new bike decision/fit be sensible? (would be using winter bike when first back to riding). Thoughts? Any clear guidelines or every recovery different?
