October Recap: LinguaBLOX!
October was a month packed with growth, and momentum across the community. Here’s a recap of what moved the community forward. Big moments - The “Let’s Share Our Work” pos by @Tony Marsh became the hangout spot this month. Everyone jumped in to show what they’ve been creating — from handwritten notes to Canva visuals and full-on language charts. - Our OPI practice threads leveled up too.( Spanish, Arabic, and English) practice real conversation. - The movies-for-language discussion by @Dee Greene sparked a interesting point of views on how to use films while learning a language. - Method drops landed. Realia, the 5 Realities and 3 Moves, fractal shape of language, and “Back to Basics” reminded us that blocks beat memorization. - Resources expanded @Fabio D'Oliveira . A starter Chinese lesson Now in the BLOX classroom . Community momentum - We welcomed 19 new members. - Realia prompts in Spanish pushed real description and helped. - Members reported first real voice exchanges on HelloTalk. What I learned this month - Language sticks when you actually practice speaking it. - Simplicity wins. Two hands, five realities, three moves is enough to generate endless talk. What was your takaway?

October Recap: LinguaBLOX!
Hello talk
Thanks so much for recommending this app. So far I’ve been using the free version and been a little overwhelmed with the responses I’ve been getting. What tips could you all give me for maximizing my results.

🌍 Languages Everywhere - Let’s Celebrate!
I’ve been noticing something really cool -- we’ve got people learning so many different languages in here! From those diving deep into Spanish (seems to be the most common!) to others exploring new languages altogether. Let’s make this fun — if you’re learning a language right now (or already speak one), drop: 1️⃣ A short video, image, or sentence saying/showing your favorite phrase or expression in that language. 2️⃣ Why you chose to learn it. My Spanish Peeps: @Dave Raftery @Marion Tinsley @Erik Johnson @Steve Washington @Tana Babcock Walsh @Rubens Junior @Dan Greegor @Linda S. @Jerry Bies @Toni Feeney African languages: @Stephan Erasmus My Chinese guy: @Bruce Du Ve @Jordi Sole @Amarni Wilson @Aidam Lührs Jacovani @John C @Ron Daley Jnr @Andrea Clague @Andrea Patrick @Jerry Wang @Ruth Valle The double trouble team: @Christopher Lewis (arabic and thai) @Sheila Forde The unique ones : @Thomas van Rijt @Anna Aguilar @Amahla Johnson @Şeyma Haznedar @Alex Ludin Guzmán Juárez @Tom Romano @Dale Madison @Brynley Kush @Johannes NDongo @Andriy Pavlenko @David Lee @Dylan Valencia @Jacopo Sestili @Thomas van Rijt

@Marion Tinsley Nice, necessity is one of the best motivations. Google says "igualmente" translates to "equally," "likewise," or "the same to you", Why do you like the word tho😅
Welcome to LinguaBLOX.
Welcomeeeee in all new 19 members (past 30d) to the home of instant conversation in any language. No memorizing here, you just start speaking. The Matrix Method taught here breaks every language into simple, repeatable “blocks” that let you create sentences from day one. This group is run by @Tony Marsh (Military linguist with 20 yrs experience) and @Fabio D'Oliveira (Top dog when it comes to portugese) There are courses like the 20Q Challenges for Spanish, French, Mandarin, and more. Each one gets you thinking and speaking through questions, not drills. Every question you answer adds another “block” to your fluency. What Next? 1. Go to Classroom → Choose a 20Q course. 2. Read through it and do your first practice session. 3. Post your first “I’m learning [language]” message in the community. What languages do you already know, or looking to learn? @Julian Mignott @Thomas van Rijt @Jacopo Sestili @Anna Aguilar @Michał Bogacz @Fy Craft @Romain Ob @Matthew Closson @Tosi Honsi @Ugesh Gurung @Elijah Lewis @Christopher Lewis @Al Ferri @Mark Dandeneau@Dina Jiesisibieke @Tana Babcock Walsh Drop your qustions, share your answers, ask for feedback, or get quick help from Tony and other learners. You’ll see progress fast once you start using the language. Don’t just study—speak.

@Thomas van Rijt Wow, this actually cool to see. I Speak English purely and Intermediate in Yoruba (not too popular beyond Africa) How long would you say it took you to leanr your first language as against the subsequent ones?

🇨🇳 Your First Ever Chinese Lesson (LinguaBLOX Style)
Most people think Chinese is impossible because of the characters. But not here. At LinguaBLOX, we skip the memorization and go straight to meaning. You’ll be surprised how much you can say in your first 10 minutes. 🧩 BLOX 1 – PEOPLE (BE 是 / shì) Let’s start with who you are. Already speaking. No memorization. Just building. 🌍 BLOX 2 – WHERE YOU’RE FROM Ask: nǐ cóng nǎlǐ lái? → “Where are you from?” Answer with: - Wo shi meiguo ren – I’m American - Wo shi baxi ren – I’m Brazilian - Wo shi zhong ren – I’m Chinese See how “Wo shi…” (I am) stays the same — only the nationality changes. That’s the power of blocks. You build, not translate.
