Converting views to streams
Like the title says… is there a strategy to get more views from streams ? Is there an avg conversion rate I should be aiming for success ?

@Jean Paul thats great, but your words are never too helpful. Criticism is best when constructive, like giving another option as to what to do.

@Jean Paul i dont know how that makes sense when you go out of your way to interact with a post asking for specific advice then reply with a question, then a critique with no real solution. So yes until you want to be a team player in this community, please don’t interact
Audio engineering
So this isnt really on the topic of marketing but I wanted to ask the audio engineers in here for advice. Im completely self taught, been learning for about 3 years now. My mixes have definitely gotten better but my issue is making them translate across devices I work in an untreated bedroom that’s decently big (it’s a master bedroom) but the ceilings are high, and I just want resources, courses or whatever kindnof advice to help me grow as an engineer because I feel like I’m hitting a wall lately And it’s affecting the product im marketing (the music) and my confidence around the product.

@Shardae Turner thank you for taking the time to write it, sadly I do most of those things and I’m aware of them all. I think at this point I need someone to show me the direct process of training oneself to be problem-solution oriented with mixing music. Like I need a mentor bc i do all those things but I think it’s about the order and in what context

@Shardae Turner maybe, I appreciate that! I think right now I need a very technical definition of getting a clear mix. I need to get better at applying compression and making my songs translate. It’ll probably come with experience,
Treating your art as a business
What does this mean to you? I’ve heard this advice many times and I’m digesting what that means from and independent artist’s standpoint. How would I structure myself as a music entrepreneur

@Adrian Milanio okay! There’s no wrong answer, i just wanted to get your first thought. If I can pick your brain tho, what are some things that an indie artist can do in the beginning to foster an entrepreneurial relationship with their art? I’ve been dropping music since 2021, I produce, and mix/master myself for reference
Dropping my first single of year
So as I’m mastering my first single of the year, I’m planning out my release (a four week release plan Im concocting) I’ve watched and read all the free game on this platform that the folks provide for us and I wanted to run by yal my game plan So, the way I see this is create traction, release and land on a bigger/higher plateau than I did before. Im gonna create some videos just about the song (snippets, teasers, all calls to my audience, etc) and promo it hard for about two weeks. At the beginning of the third week I’ll announce a drop date, and perform it live at a local venue then at the fourth week I’ll drop the song and the music video and promo the full package. To keep the momentum going afterwards, I’ll drop a lyric video in two weeks, and a live performance two weeks later. This is my plan! And Im asking yal for yal’s thoughts, advice and or encouragement! I’ll let yal know how it goes for my numbers and such

@Jean Paul this is what Im still figuring out. My numbers say mid twenties, of any gender. If I had to identify them or who i make music for: it’s for the gamers, skaters, enjoyers of boombap, and black alt music

Thank you! Yea lately Im putting the most active effort into trying to create some sort of aesthetic and brand for myself. I need dogwhistles for my target audience to know its’s for them @Jean Paul
would you ever use AI to write music?
so i was playing around with chat gpt recently and found out it's lowkey nice with the pen. which led me to wonder ... would you ever use artificial intelligence to write music?

Nope, I think using AI destroys your integrity as an artist. Never would work with someone using AI AI is able to create because it already steals data from real human artists. If you use it, you’re ripping off of a real person. (I dont care if you’re not using it for your career or to make money but if you profit or gain status from using AI, I really question your ethics) In this art community where our heart’s expression has become a commodity and there’s competition, we have to maintain some type of moralistic ground and solidarity. If you wouldnt directly steal someone’s work, then don’t use AI in your professional work (Mind you, this is a big opinion, but it’s just my perspective)

@Friday Jones and I’ve definitely stolen other artists’ work to LEARN from — never profited from it or presented it as my own. Thats really where I see the line at. Yes, study the greats. Hey, you could even use the AI and get inspiration from it, but dont completey plagiarize it. Or if you’re gonna use it, say that you used AI
