Aprons
Made two aprons to give as gifts. It’s been a busy weekend. I’m traveling for today to Ohio to see a very special person. No sewing for me for the next 11 days! Have fun sewing, sewing friends.

Welcome to The Sewing Academy!🧵
If you're new here, introduce yourself in the comments: • Where you're from • Whether you're brand new to sewing or returning after a break • What you'd love to learn how to make Then start with the beginner lesson inside the Classroom. That’s where I walk you step-by-step through the basics and your first sewing project. I can't wait to see what you make! – Rebecca

Thank you for adding me. I live in the USA. I am new to sewing but I have sewed a few things. I am new at sewing clothing. I would love to learn how to pick my size better and how to add or remove at the side seams without having to mess up my patterns.

@Rebecca Brown my husband helped me pick the waist band and I really enjoyed embroidering the strawberry. I have a fabric with strawberries on it. All my patterns are 40 to 50 vintage reproduction patterns.
Cleaning your sewing machine
Last Wednesday we talked about how often you should give your sewing machine a good clean out. I have discovered that it’s pretty much the same as changing the needle, about every 8ish hours of sewing time. Some articles suggest you do it after every sewing project which makes me laugh. I don’t know about you but I have worked on a project for MONTHS or longer 🤪 SO the 8 hour rule seems a little smarter guideline to me. I just recorded a short video showing just how “fluffy” the inside of my machine was after just one project and the tools I used to get it cleaned up. I will link those items in the comments. Alright sewing friends, I’ve shown you mine NOW let’s see the inside of YOUR machine!

Cleaned the Singer photos
Okay Rebecca, I did take pictures of what a hot mess the bobbin area was of my Singer machine as you asked :) I don't have good lighting & had to hold a flashlight & try to take pictures at the same time but, you can see it was long overdue for cleaning! 7 brushes later, she is all clean :)

I had to clean my machine and it has been like that before. I try to do a cleaning after each project if I do not I do it after every two projects.

I am a vintage lover who loves the 1940 to 1950. I am a homemaker and business owner and I love to sew and embroider. I love all things vintage.
