Looking for a new interface; whats the difference between
I've been using the Focusrite 2i2o for the longest time, I kind of want something new to play with. I've actually been going back and forth in my head wanting to try out these mic modelling technologies. UA is having a sale and I've been considering getting the Sphere...mostly cause why not, it's had good reviews, there's got to be something I can get out of that. Back when it was still Townsend, an engineer even told me if I could get my hands on that, it'd be all I need. It was shelling out for about $2000 w/o tax then. So I'm in between that..because I honestly just think it'd be fun to mess around with as I mostly just record with a dynamic Shure SM58 because of my environment. Or... I was thinking of getting a new interface, I was looking at the Apollo Twin or the Volt 2. To be honest, I don't record instruments aside from vocals, I eventually want to get a standard midi keyboard or maybe a drum machine/sampler. I found the preamp of my Focusrite to be okay, I don't remember which generation this is but it wasn't the strongest of internal preamps, I ended up buying some cheapies that got the job done, so I'm looking to choose an interface with a far better preamp than what I'm used to. Personally, I don't need a ton of inputs but I'm not opposed to having more than 2 for future fun. Does anyone know the difference between an Apollo Twin (Duo or Quad) and the Volt 2 or 4. I know there's the Volt with the compressor, I don't think I want that in my environment mostly cause I read that it's a little noisy, I can do without the compressor, I'm looking for preamp quality. If anyone has an opinion on mic modelling technology, I'd love to hear it, but I'm going to search through FTM Skool to see if it's already been discussed.

@Steven Casale Do you have a link to where you found a kit to build that?
