@Rachel Bk Mainly on the paper. I had some trouble with the first one while I was doing the hair. There were lots of highlights and low lights in the reference, and I felt near the crown of the head, it turned this awful brown. I also may not have let the layers dry completely beforehand. Just wondering if anyone has had this happen and how to remedy it.

@Rachel Bk Thank you Rachel! Once both of our contributions are physically put together, I'll post the finished result.
Just for fun- workspace/palette pictures?
I think palettes / workspaces are so colorful and messy… sometimes just looking at my palette gets me motivated. So… what does your palette look like? Messy? Clean?

I don't have a dedicated work space just yet, so my dining room table has been taken over completely. I'm not very tidy. There could also be Legos all over any free space at any given moment.
💛 Can I ask you a small favour?
If you’ve enjoyed being part of this community, I’d love to hear about your experience. I’m working on making this community sustainable so it can continue to grow, host challenges, and create an inspiring place for artists. Hearing from you would help more than you know. 🙂 If you’d like to help, could you answer one or more of these questions? ✨ What made you join this community? ✨ What do you enjoy most? ✨ Has it inspired or motivated you to create more? ✨ Have you learned something new here? ✨ How would you describe this community to another artist? ✨ Would you recommend it to a friend? Why? You don’t have to answer every question—a few sentences are more than enough. With your permission, I’d love to use some of your words as testimonials on the community page so new members can see what it’s really like here. Thank you so much for being part of this little creative corner. It genuinely wouldn’t be the same without all of you. ❤️

@Renata Loos I could have written this myself 🖤
Banned IG account
Has anyone had their art account flagged as AI on IG? I just had to submit for a review and if it isn't accepted my account will be perma banned. I don't have a huge following, but I have made some great contacts with some commissions and collaborations with other artists and I am so frustrated and upset. It seems like AI bot accounts can run rampant, but then actual artists are flagged and can lose all of their hard work and time that they put into their account. I'm not really looking for advice, just screaming into the void I suppose. 😡

Update: My account was reinstated thankfully! But I did decide to make a back up account in case this were to happen again.

@Valérie Van Kraaij I have an old acct that I hadn't posted anything on, so I changed my username to something closer to my art account. Took some screenshots of my followers usernames and followed most of the people who tend to engage with my account. I'll slowly start posting things from my main account, but I won't be spending a ton of time on it. I mentioned in my bio that it's a back up and linked my main.
Dealing with the social media pressure to be good!
Hi All, Hoping everyone is well and enjoying the start of the summer wherever you are. I wanted to make this topic because I'm sure I'm not alone in this and I'm sure we can help each other out a little. I just took a couple of weeks break from social media (here included) because I noticed it was starting to negatively influence how I feel about my own work. Now this surprised me because I like to think of myself as pretty level-headed and mildly self-assured, especially after years of therapy 😅 I never made art for anyone but myself and I never set out to sell or impress. But seeing people on Instagram especially making SUCH beautiful work lately got me feeling like "I'm not enough" or "I'm not doing enough". I think we've all been there at some point. What surprised me this time is that, normally, Instagram for me is a source if inspiration and admiration but something about that changed lately and became more about pressure and competitiveness. Has anyone else found this or felt this? If so, how do you deal with it? I genuinely love seeing other people's work and their successes and don't want to avoid social media - but I need to find a way to not compare. As I say, I'm surprised by my own reaction and it feels a little vulnerable putting this out there but I reckon this little community we have here can relate.. Any thoughts? Kat

I've never been a big social media person. Even when MySpace and Facebook were the popular platforms, so this whole Instagram thing is something that I am trying not to let affect me negatively. So I very much relate. I have minimal followers, which I don't mind because those followers tend to engage in really constructive and encouraging ways. I've gotten a few commissions and one collaboration so far. I think I would be overwhelmed with thousands of tens of thousands of followers. I would love to get my art out there, but I'm thinking more locally and IG can be a tool for that, but I would rather make some real world connections. It's helped me with the imposter syndrome I feel when scrolling and seeing so many talented artists who are far above my level, doing things I simply cannot do.

I'm a woman in my 40s and looking to connect with others who make art. I'm starting again after a 15 year hiatus.
