: Somatics and Staying Calm During the Christmas Season
Christmas is a beautiful time of year, yet it can also bring its own special kind of pressure. There are family expectations, full schedules, emotional triggers and the familiar feeling of trying to hold everything together. Even when we tell ourselves to stay calm, the body often tells a different story. This is where somatics becomes powerful. Somatics helps you tune into the internal sensations of your body so you can recognise stress before it takes over. When you understand what your body is communicating, you can respond with ease instead of reacting from overwhelm. During the Christmas season many of us tighten the shoulders, hold the breath, clench the jaw or slip into old patterns of people pleasing. These are not personal flaws. They are nervous system responses. Somatic awareness helps you meet these moments with compassion and choose something different. A few minutes of somatic practice each day can help you stay grounded, calm and connected to yourself through the busyness of December. You do not need a quiet house or a yoga mat. You only need a few breaths and a willingness to notice what your body is feeling. Like this post or comment and I will send you the exercises that work for me and keep me from getting overwhelmed and actually enjoy this season
