My 5-minute “wakeup pause" saved my bacon today
You know those meetings where everything seems normal for exactly twelve seconds… and then suddenly requirements shift, priorities move, and somebody casually introduces “new delivery targets” like they’re announcing the weather? (CEO "we ARE going live June 30th") Yeah. That kind of meeting. Normally, that’s the moment my brain has 55 thousand questions...and I internally scream into the void. But this time, I was saved by this morning's "wakeup pause". Still in bed, awake. Petting the dogs, and just reflecting. Not grabbing my computer (I am a developer), not making coffee. None of that. A small morning reset. when my eyes open "Ah, good morning east facing wall" And thank goodness for the pause. Because when the conversation started doing backflips, I somehow stayed grounded. I kept my cool, stayed present, and responded like a functioning adult instead of raging mama bear protecting her cubs. Of course people were arguing, Delivery Date = Work for People. But there I sat, breathing - not hyperventilating but breathing. That little pause didn’t magically make the chaos disappear. But it helped me not become part of the chaos. Honestly, it’s one of the simplest habits I’ve built, and it worked for me today. How did the Pause help you today? 🙃 @Sherry Bachelder I'd love to hear from you - you seem like a "Pause Expert" 🥰
