May Challenge - Finish Something
Hi everyone, welcome to the May challenge. This month the challenge is to dig out your UFO's (UnFinished Objects) and finish something this month! I think we all need to have this goal once in a while. Post below your plans for what you will finish this month!

Hmmmm. 1. Mending the cotton blanket (time estimate 2 hours) 2. Lap Quilt (est 7 hours for quilting, then need to find a fabric for binding) 3. Cutting out the wall hanging blocks (est. 2 hours) 4. Marking the wall hanging blocks (5 hours?) Time estimates added to hopefully get me to pay enough attention to have some understanding of how long something takes me. Like I'm about 2 hours in on cutting blocks for the wall hanging, and I thought it would take me an hour.
May Challenge?
Hi! Is there a challenge for May?

@Karen Dupaix ohhh, I don't know. Work has picked up and I basically get home and collapse, but instead of picking something up I either fall asleep or stare at a screen. My stitching keeps me sane though, so I need to do something. I'm struggling to finish quilting a lap quilt, it is probably a week from being done if I'd pick it up and do a little each day. I started but didn't finish cutting my next quilting project, and it didn't make it back in bags, so now I need to find everything because my cats have slid stuff off the table twice. I have a crochet bag that just needs leaves to be finished (my first colorwork project, it is a strawberry with a bunch of scrap yarns). And then I have a couple mending projects that need finished. Mending in May could work. Or May Mending Mayhem? Once I pass the Mending projects the piles are bra making and pattern adjusting.
Introduce Yourself!
Welcome to Your Sewing & Handwork School--we're so glad you're here. Take a moment to introduce yourself in the comments below. You can share as much or as little as you'd like, but here are a few prompts to get you started: - What's your name and where are you joining from? - Which crafts do you enjoy (sewing, embroidery, knitting, crocheting...or all of the above)? - What are you currently working on--or hoping to learn? - what drew you to handwork or this community? This is a friendly, encouraging space, so feel free to jump in, say hello, and connect. You never know who you might inspire--or become friends with.

@Janet Eddy how is the double wedding ring going? I havent done any EPP, but it seems like maybe a good option for some of the more elaborate patterns.

I noticed some people were putting YouTube channels, Im @ggmcreates for my crafty stuff and decluttering and @goinggreenmom for my health journey and weight loss stuff..... but I haven't posted lately on either channel.
April Challenge
Happy April! Here's your challenge for this month: try something new this month. Learn a new stitch, use a new tool, learn a new technique, etc. what will you try this month that you haven't done before?

I learned how to piece half square triangles! Not sure what Ill use my practice pieces for, but I am starting to cut fabric for a wall hanging that requires half square triangles for a good chunk of the quilt pattern. :) OH, and I guess I learned how to fussy cut motifs out of fabric too..... but that is not going tk be a normal thing.... way too much waste and not enough patience. 🤣
