Revisiting the Canali Sport Coat
Some weeks ago I posted my OOTD remarking that upon looking at the selfies I took for the post, I realized that the jacket was too big across the shoulders and that I would have my tailor take it in. (Here's a link to the original post: https://www.skool.com/rmrs/fitment-fail?p=cafc58ff). At the time I promised @Raymond Reeves that I would post before and after photos when I got the coat back from the tailor. This process took an absurdly long time because my tailor was greatly backed up with work and it took a month for her people to finally produce the altered jacket. When they did, I was not happy with the result. In taking in the shoulders they had reduced the chest circumference to the point where the jacket no longer fit me (I have a big old Andean chest). And they had failed to nip in the waist as I had directed, or had not done it enough. I was annoyed especially when she told me there wasn't anything they could do to fix the mistakes. I give this shop a lot of work and expected better from them. Since I'm stubborn, I promptly took the jacket to another, competing tailor a few block away, one that I had never used before. He agreed that there was nothing that could be done with the now too-small chest fit but did offer to adjust the waist to make it look better overall. I picked up the jacket yesterday and I am very pleased with the result. This tailor will be getting my work going forward. So the first photo below is the jacket before alterations (with pocket square) and the rest of the photos (no pocket square) are post-tailoring. What do you all think? Yes, it's too tight across the chest but I am in the process of dropping a few more pounds so I am hoping it will fit me better in the not-too-distant future.
