Instructions for Having a Soul
Take it out in the rain sometimes. It has vast, invisible wings that gather dirt and need rinsing. When it tries to kill you that is because you've forgotten to let it look into someone's eyes for longer than a minute. It needs that the way a bee needs nectar in the early morning dew. Every so often, take it on a journey. Let it read long, hard books and let it stare into the depths of the sea. Yes, you can give it chips and whiskey, but from time to time let it kneel in a place that is holy like the simple cathedral of the willows. All it wants is to live, to keep becoming. Nourish it, and it puts down roots, it opens. But starve it, and the mind, the flesh is empty; the world breaks down; symphonies go unwritten; the rockets fall; the children die in flames. Listen. It is not too late to wake it. Say the names of the wild, the forgotten things: bluebird, red wolf, robin; violet, child, clover. You cannot save the world but you can open the window for the trapped wren in the cellar. Read a book to a blind man, to your father. Tell a child you do believe her anger. Make your life the first life that you save. Joseph Fasano

"When it tries to kill you" is the sharpest line in the poem. It reframes despair or self-destruction not as pathology but as starvation, the soul turning on you because it hasn't been fed connection, That's a compassionate way to think about darker states of mind: not "something is wrong with you" but "something in you hasn't been nourished." (yet) 😉

Service
Service isn't something you do from a place of lack, hoping to earn worth by giving it away. Real service flows through you once you've done the interior work: sat with your own shadow, found your own peace, and returned with a lantern instead of empty hands. When you help from that place, unity stops being a concept. You feel it. You see your own healing mirrored in someone else's, and something in both of you softens. That's the alchemy: not fixing people, but reflecting back the wholeness they forgot they had. -The Corporate Alchemist

Loved
Morning Sunshine 🌞 before your feet even touch the floor today, let this truth settle into your bones: you are enough. Not "enough once you finish the to-do list," not "enough once someone else approves of you" enough right now, exactly as you are, mid-messy-hair and unfinished business. You are safe. Your nervous system doesn't have to brace for impact today; you can breathe out, unclench your jaw, and let your shoulders drop from your ears. And you are loved 🤗 not conditionally, not because of what you produce or how well you perform, but simply because you exist. Carry that with you into whatever this day holds. -The Corporate Alchemist

Envy
There is a quiet exhaustion that comes from living someone else's scoreboard. You glance at your neighbor's new car, your friend's promotion, your colleague's highlight reel, and something inside you contracts. That contraction is envy, and it is not a character flaw. It is a signal, a compass pointing to a desire you haven't yet honored in yourself. But if you follow that signal into comparison, you will spend your whole life running someone else's race and calling it your own. The alchemy happens when you turn that same attention inward and ask, "What do I already have that I have stopped noticing?" Gratitude is not pretending you have no ambition. It is refusing to let ambition rob you of the present. The Joneses are not your measuring stick. They are simply other people, living other lives, carrying burdens you cannot see behind the polish. Your work is not to keep pace with them. Your work is to keep faith with yourself, to look at your own life and find it enough, right now, exactly as it is, while you build toward more. -The Corporate Alchemist

Fidelity
There's a quiet trap hiding inside a phrase we love to repeat. We say "no insistence on the outcome" and think we've released attachment, but often we've just smuggled it back in through the side door. We tell ourselves: if this is truly from source, it will land. It will scale. It will be seen. That's not surrender. That's manifestation culture wearing spiritual clothing, promising that truth plus flow equals reach. Real non-attachment is harder and quieter than that. It says the work can be entirely aligned, entirely true, and still go unrecognized by the noise of this world. Landing was never the proof. Fidelity to the work was always the only ask. Create because it moves through you, not because you're owed a result for letting it. -The Corporate Alchemist
