Hello everyone
Hi everyone, I'm Galen, from the UK but living in Madrid. I provide IT related services to NGOs, which can be web development, custom development, or other IT support on solutions to IT challenges often faced by small NGOs wanting to expand their appeal, do outreach and raise funds. I also end up taking on other projects in completely different areas of IT, which often don't particularly interest me but help pay bills. A bit of a challenge honestly is that I haven't been in Spain massively long and my Spanish is okay but not wonderful for professional use, so I try to focus on clients that are from English speaking countries or other international organisations where the language in use is English. Another challenge is time management, particularly with a 3 year old daughter and significant time recently having been spent doing up a flat in Edinburgh, which needs to be done but has given me a lot of frustration as it creates a very stop-start feel to my business. So my top goals for next 90 days : Generically, get 2-3 more clients More specifically, get my website up. It's been in very slow progress whenever I get a few minutes free, but I need to find a way to prioritise it

@Tom Sorce thanks for your reply! I look forward to seeing who else comes into the Lab and what we can achieve together!
Welcome to the Freelance Freedom Lab 👋
Hey everyone — Samer here. I’m really glad you made it in. Freelancing can be exciting, overwhelming, lonely, freeing…all at the same time. I’ve felt all of that myself, especially early on. If you’ve ever felt stuck, second-guessed yourself, or wondered if you’re “doing any of this right,” you’re in the right place. Our goal is simple: help you build a freelance business that actually works — without doing it alone. Why This Community Exists... Inside The Lab, you’ll get: - Daily & weekly action steps - Guided accountability - Real support on demand when you’re stuck - Live coaching + strategy help - A community that genuinely wants you to win Freelancers don’t fail because they’re not good. They fail because they try to figure it all out in isolation. This space exists so you don’t have to do that. A Little About Me (and Why I Care) I’ve been freelancing for 20+ years — and it wasn’t glamorous at the start. I made every mistake you can make. I underpriced myself, I overworked myself, and I learned most things the hard way. Eventually, things clicked. I’ve now earned over $10M freelancing, including $4M+ on Upwork, ranked in the top 1%, managed over $1B in ad spend, and have been featured in places like Entrepreneur, Business Insider, and the Upwork Conference. But if I’m being honest…none of that matters as much as this: I know what it’s like to struggle — and I don’t want you to go through the early years the way I did. That’s why we built the Freelance Freedom Lab or "The Lab" for short 😃 Not to show off results… but to shorten the path to YOUR results. Start Here (Your First 3 Steps) 1. Introduce yourself — who you are + what you do 2. Share your #1 freelancing challenge right now 3. Tell us your top goal for the next 90 days This helps me (and the entire community) support you immediately. A Quick Note About What’s Ahead You’re here early — which means you’re part of building this with us. The full Lab experience — classroom, roadmap, and full coaching lineup — officially launches January 5, 2026. But the community, support, accountability, and live help start right now.

Hi everyone! I'm Galen and I do IT support for NGOs, which can be web development, other custom development, or simply advice and support setting up the variety of existing solutions that are helpful to NGOs seeking to widen their appeal and to fundraise and handle donations. Or at least that's what I try to do the majority of the time - I also have the common problem of picking up general IT and development related stuff that's really outside my interest but is at least paid work. My biggest challenge right now is expanding to find more clients as it's been a bit of a low period recently, so 3 new clients would be a good achievement.
