@James Shahan I’m debating on hiring an editor for my substack. Can you send your portfolio/resume to hello@antiworkgirlboss.com if this sounds of interest to you?

Is Sales compatible with Anti-Work?
Hi everyone! I’m an Account Executive in SAAS sales and feeling burnt out. I’ve had success in my career and genuinely enjoy working with people, but I don’t resonate with the constant hustle and ‘never enough’ mentality that many other sales professionals have. While I’ve made great money, my company’s comp structure recently changed, and I’m searching for my next position. I’m deciding if I want to remain in sales as an AE, go into sales operations / enablement, or make a switch entirely (like marketing, CS, or data analytics!). It’s also worth mentioning that I work for a high growth SAAS startup who’s working on their IPO, so it’s possible that I would be happier and have more balance doing a similar role at other companies. I’m just trying to figure out where to go next, and very open to a career change. Is anyone else here in sales? What have your experiences been?

Answering this on tomorrow's call! I know we touched a little bit on this last week together.

@Lena Zell Congrats! Excited to chat about that tomorrow
Any fellow contractors/freelancers?
Hi y'all! Is anyone else here currently working (or has worked) as a contractor or freelancer? Would love to start a little anti-work sub-thread for us as I find it SO challenging to be setting boundaries with myself and my clients as a 1099 remote "employee," especially when you're working -- as I am right now -- shorter-term contracts that are, in theory, renewable, but still hang over you all the time. I feel like I constantly have to outperform expectations and work "however long it takes" just to have a shot at maintaining some sort of stability with repeat clients. I'd love to discuss the pros/cons of freelancing with an anti-work mindset! And don't get me wrong, I think there are a ton of pros, and I've actually come full circle to preferring the flexibility that comes with it.

I'm 1099 on essentially everything I do besides my products and services under Anti Work Girlboss's LLC so I am always more than willing to discuss all things freelancing as well! If there is anything you all are interested in me pulling back the curtain on let me know!
Corporate life burn out
Last year I went above and beyond my job scope. Learned new systems, always helping other team members, and helping my manager complete SOX control tasks for their audit. For the first time ever on my self review, I put “exceeded expectations”. I hustled for a simple promotion of having “associate” dropped from my title. Only to be told I wasn’t visual enough to higher management and attending more meetings. Mind you, I attended every meeting invite. So how is that possible to attend more meetings I wasn’t invited to or knew of its existence. I have been there 6 years. It’s time to move on, but I am having a hard time translating my experience into a new job sector that has the same pay and healthcare as I am a single mother. Now I have stepped back and am only doing my basic job duties as I am “quiet quitting”. Best, Hustled and it got me no where.

It's the classic carrot on a stick illusion they are doing with you! You're approaching this the right way and I am sorry for what you are experiencing right now. I will cover my thoughts on this on tomorrow's call!
