Anyone else noticing how “trending product lists” are low-key misleading new dropshippers?
Hey guys, I’ve been having a lot of conversations with some beginners I'm guiding on how to launch their Dropshipping brand and scaleup lately, and I’m seeing a common pattern, a lot of people jump straight into selling whatever shows up on “Top 10 Trending Products This Week” lists. Don’t get me wrong, trending lists can be a starting point, but relying on them alone… that’s where things get messy. Here’s what I’ve noticed: Most trending lists don’t match the actual audience you’re trying to attract. A product “trending globally” doesn’t mean it’s trending among your potential buyers. And even worse: people pick the product, build a store around it, and only after launching realize their audience doesn’t care. Then they start tweaking everything except the validation process, which was the root problem from day one. Honestly, I feel like a lot of beginners skip the boring but important steps, checking search intent, validating with data, studying what current sellers are doing, analyzing scroll-stopping creatives, checking pricing gaps, etc. What do y'all think? Is relying on trending lists actually holding new store owners back from discovering products that would’ve worked better for their audience?

Anyone else ignoring great products because they’re “a shipping headache”?
Hey everyone I’ve been going through product ideas for a new niche store, and something keeps happening over and over again, I keep seeing amazing products with strong demand, great margins, and killer aesthetics… but I end up skipping them simply because they fall into the “shipping complications” category. You know the type: Fragile pieces that can break if you look at them wrong or Bulky home items with weird dimensions or Anything containing liquid or Items needing special packaging or extra padding or Products that most suppliers claim they can ship safely, but reviews tell another story. The crazy part? I know stores out there making absolute BANK selling things that are way more complicated to ship than the “simple” items we beginners tend to run toward. So here’s my question: If you were just starting out, would you avoid these complicated products or embrace them? Also, Has anyone here successfully scaled with fragile/bulky/liquid items without drowning in refunds and damaged-item complaints? I’m trying to figure out whether I’m being strategic… or simply too scared to deal with potential logistics drama.

I agree with Debby, but I see the opposite problem too a lot of new sellers avoid these products so aggressively that they miss out on low-competition niches entirely. Sometimes the “shipping nightmare” products are exactly where the real opportunity is. But… you need systems. If you’re relying on one random supplier on AliExpress, it’s going to be chaos. I’d say beginners can go for these products, but only if they’re ready to handle a whole different type of customer support war
