i have a homie who has made huge strides through social media, just recently hit 300k but is still struggling to book gigs and become a full-time artist. what would you suggest as a next step?
@Sean Taylor She's a masked EDM DJ (i feel like that would be useful) 1. Instagram (also seeing significant growth on the other platforms with TT being the lowest) 2. Spotify 992 monthly listeners not sure of the apple numbers.
- We paid $48 to put a song on a playlist with an active fanbase - The playlist has 89,595 likes and our song was put in 10th position. - Initially the song had 300 streams - 2 weeks later that song has reached 8444 streams - We haven't tried ads yet but I will do a post comparing playlist placement vs advertising once we run a campaign - What are yalls experiences?
there are so many local and national arts and culture organizations that fund individual artists, i’m curious if any artists in the network are taking advantage of these types of opportunities? i’ve found that learning the grant application process and building with established art institutions can be a super bag that music artists especially may overlook. ✨ fyi it’s giving season so check for grant opportunities that could work for you and apply!
@Tasha Monique will do, it can be hard finding a good match but also look outside the box, if you have an llc you can also be applying for business grants as an indie artists.
