Six Weeks at Number 2
Here in Australia for the last year or maybe two there has been a new national music chart called Atomic Music. I submitted several songs from my First album and they reached various levels in the top 10 or top 20. But right now, one of the songs - that I recorded at home - is at #2 and has been for SIX WEEKS!

Listening to it now!
What stops you most: starting, staying focused, or finishing?
One of the group members here said the biggest thing they want help with is overcoming creative blocks and actually getting things done. That feels pretty central to what Room to Record should be about - and it resonates with plus motivates me. I'm about to start posting on this and working THROUGH it with some previous, current and future projects.... Which part is hardest for you?

For me, it’s finishing, almost every single time. I struggle to close a song, constantly coming back to tweak this frequency, adjust that level, or re-record that line...until I literally have to step back and tell myself, "enough is enough!"

Room to Record is for musicians and creators who have the gear, the ideas and the intention, but still aren't making enough. You might be working from: • a full home studio • a desk in the corner of a room • a laptop and headphones • a rehearsal room • or complete organised creative chaos The goal isn’t a perfect studio. It’s having a workable space, a clearer process and enough momentum to keep making things. Sometimes you don’t need more gear or another tutorial. You need an outside perspective, help working out what’s missing, and a clear next step. That’s what we’ll work on here. We’ll talk about: • rooms and studio setups • recording and songwriting • workflow and creative friction • gear without endlessly buying more of it • unfinished projects • decisions and next steps • releasing and sharing your work • useful tools, services and opportunities • and the strange business of trying to make meaningful things while still living a normal adult life Share your setup, your music, your current project, a problem you’re stuck on, or just quietly absorb ideas while pretending you’re “still planning things.” Very common here. What are you trying to make, finish or move forward right now?

I am currently tracking bass at home for the fourth album of my band Sacromud. We are almost at the finish line, with just the drums left to record. My home setup is pretty dialed in right now: Audio Interface & DAW: Focusrite Scarlett connected to a Windows PC running Cakewalk Sonar. Monitoring: Yamaha HS5 active speakers. Signal Chain: Bass straight into my HeadRush multi-effects processor, then running through a Radial Bassbone Tonebone V2 preamp before hitting the Scarlett. It's all pretty straightforward but it gets the job done!🤟

Update on progress slow to go…
The last 3-4 weeks have been a bit crazy for me with a photoshoot, two radio interviews and multiple rehearsals for one band - first live performance this weekend. Plus rehearsals and another performance this weekend for another, a performance for my son’s school concert, promoting a local music festival that my 2 bands are playing at, rehearsing and recording 8 new songs in 8 days for a band that comes together twice per year, and a third band breaking up. All of my Skool efforts have been slowed down by this but I’ve also increased the traffic and gotten some new members (welcome). So, as soon as this weekend is over with the double performance and a day of recovery - I will be settling back into a more manageable regular routine of only 2 rehearsals per week, and more time for this group. My main plan is to use that time to be actually working on new songs, and sharing the process here.

Sounds like an absolute whirlwind of a month! Break a leg with the double performances this weekend and the school concert. Looking forward to seeing the behind the scenes of the new songwriting process (once you catch your breath)!
