RE: Part 1 Homework
Hey friends! Just to clarify, there’s a homework prompt at the end of part one that includes making an introduction post with specific prompts about your brand & content. Happy to see folks introducing themselves but want to make sure everyone knows there are specific prompts related to the course materials. Please make sure you’ve completed part 1 before posting your intro/homework post. Thanks!

@Peter DiCaprio ha! Have you completed part one? The homework is outlined there! That said you don’t HAVE to comment on folk’s posts but I highly encourage it

Introduction & Homework
Hi everyone, I am one of the aspiring creators, so I don't have anything to show for content yet... I am working towards a mini documentary and definitely need to get over cringe mountain first. I want to start documenting my journey as I research more about my documentary topic, practice the craft, and study film and filmmaking. I wanted to pursue photojournalism but...life, so I am starting here. My photo portfolio is a mess right now but I'll add a link to a photo story/article I wrote on there if you want an idea of what my work might look/sound like. I don't have any video stories up because I keep getting stuck in the editing stage. I'm rambling because I'm nervous. My why is getting to a place where I have the confidence and skill to make this documentary. It is a story worth telling. In general, that is my why. Every story is worth telling. Everyone deserves to be heard and seen. Also, convincing myself that I am capable of being that storyteller. My pillars are: Chronicle, Connect & Create I'm glad to be in this with all of you! My YouTube inspo is the creator Hallease and I will link something from her, too. Hey Dalton, welcome!! I'd love to hear more about your documentary idea! A big part of the course talks about making long form content for YouTube so that sounds like it'll be right up your alley. Also, LOOOOVE Hallease, what a great person to be inspired by. Happy to have you hear and excited to hear more about your project.
Intro & Homework
Hey all! My name is Gaby Castro. I’m a musician (primarily a clarinetist & instrumental music producer) & a witch, with expertise in tarot and astrology. I also really love fantasy genre related things, video games, anime, and cosplay (I see these things as a big part of my identity)! Before I get into the main points of the homework, I should preface this with a little backstory about my content creation journey so people might understand where I’m coming from. I started out my content creation journey making YouTube music videos with my clarinet quartet, Four Play Clarinet, which we started while I was getting my Masters in Music Performance at Cal State Fullerton (2015). The music videos were covers of well-known pop + electronic music, with the main features of the song being arranged into the clarinet parts while we worked with music producers who wrote backing tracks & produced electronics alongside recorded clarinet, at least for the majority of the covers. Initially, we had a composer friend from school helping us with the arrangements, but we (myself and another member of the quartet) ended up writing a lot of the clarinet parts ourselves! The success of that channel is kind of what catapulted my career as a musician and, as a point to share one of my favorite pieces of content I’ve ever created for the homework, here’s one of the music videos we did covering Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics. It’s one of my favorite music videos we ever did! https://youtu.be/5Cd7dyiuYrY?si=WAoNA5tZI6gOGQpL Unfortunately, as members changed & COVID happening as we were beginning to plan out live concerts, things with the quartet fell apart and we officially disbanded in 2022. Ever since then, I’ve kind of been trying to figure out what content creation looks like for me and debated a lot whether I actually want to create content at all, and the conclusion I came to is that I definitely want to give it more of an honest effort, though I’ll be honest, I’m coming to this course feeling very BLOCKED.

Welcome Gaby! I'm OBSESSED with the black light portion of this video!! those visuals are incredible! Thanks for the backstory on your content journey, that context is helpful. It sounds like you and suffer from the same illness known as TOO MANY TALENTS!! That said, I think your personal pillars could apply to your tarot content as well. I don't think you have to make them separate. Something worth thinking about is ways to combine your musical talents with Tarot. That's actually how I came up my song "instead of an empty apology write a check!" i wanted to combine my love of influencer apologies with my song writing. So maybe there's some content where you explore the signs as different instruments/sounds or write something inspired by different tarot cards? Just spitballing here but I think you have a lot to play with here! Excited to see what you discover through the course. Thanks for being here!
Intro/Homework
Hi everyone! My name is Naomi. My brand whys are being able to tell a good story and hopefully giving people something that they can take with them (e.g., a laugh or a new word) after they scroll away from my content or otherwise move on with their lives. As for my brand pillars: Franchesca, you gave voice to exactly what I'm trying to bring so I am jumping on the Smart, Honest, and Funny train! Lastly, the piece of content I'm most proud of is my first viral TikTok. I still don't quite understand why this of all things went viral but I do recognize that I told a good story and the video falls squarely in SHF territory.

ayeee smart, honest and funny crew!! Welcome Naomi, happy to have you here!! congrats on your first viral TikTok, that's exciting!!! Also impressive considering it's almost 3 minutes long. That's an eternity on TikTok lol Going viral is a lot like catching lightening in a bottle, but at first glance you really nailed it with a great curiosity gap (which is covered in "part 2: your content") combined with the timeliness of the convo around Shannon Sharpe's settlement. You've got great instincts! Excited to hear your thoughts on the course!
