FEC LinkedIn Engagement Group for August
Would you like more meaningful engagement on your LinkedIn posts while supporting fellow FEC members? (Scroll down, "See More" to see the updated list.) We are restarting our LinkedIn Engagement Group with a fresh list of members who are actively posting original content and are prepared to participate consistently. This is a commitment from now until the end of August. (Then we'll restart a new group.) :-) **To join, add your LinkedIn profile link in the comments and watch the brief explainer video below. By joining, you agree to complete one engagement sweep each week: - Visit every profile on the active list. - Find at least one recent original post from each member. - Like/Support/Love/Celebrate the post and leave a thoughtful comment. Reposting is optional. This is a mutual-support group. Adding your profile means you are agreeing to support everyone on the list, not only the people whose content relates directly to your field. This group is best suited for members who publish original LinkedIn content approximately once a week. Reposts do not count as original posts. Members who are no longer posting or who do not participate consistently may be removed from the active list. You are always welcome to rejoin when your schedule allows you to participate again. Engagement works best when we all show up for one another. Here is the current updated list: https://www.linkedin.com/in/bowengreg/ Greg Bowen https://www.linkedin.com/in/jachym-suchomel Jachym Suchomel https://www.linkedin.com/in/shirleycressdudley/ Shirley Cress Dudley (TUESDAY's post)- You might even want to repost it- it's for your prospective clients. https://www.linkedin.com/in/stephanie-cooper-ccs/ Stephanie Cooper https://www.linkedin.com/in/jrhrconsultingincorporated/ Joanna La Pointe

@Shirley Cress Dudley Hi Shirley, yes I'd like to added to the group.
Wins
This has been a phenomenal week of making new connections and building relationships that are not transactional. I am delighted I found this community, which fits so well with the ideas of reciprocity and mutual support. I look forward to contributing where my experience and perspective may be useful, and to learning from what each of you brings to the community and to the work you do.
My Pleasure to Meet You
Hi everyone. Frances Strickland here. Glad to be joining the community and looking forward to getting to know many of you. I've spent more than 30 years working across businesses in senior leadership and advisory roles, with experience spanning strategy, operations, organizational transformation, HR, and international business. Today, I advise owner- and founder-led businesses that have reached the point where growth has made the business harder to run. I help leaders identify what is getting in the way of performance, align the parts of the business that need to work together, and build the operating discipline needed for more predictable performance and profitability. I also enjoy connecting with other fractional leaders whose expertise complements mine. There is often far more value we can create together than by staying inside our individual lanes. You can learn more about my work here: https://performance-and-profitability.netlify.app/ Looking forward to the conversations and connections.

@Arvind Mozumdar Hi Arvind Thank you!
Quick gut check: Entertainment vs. Education
We all say we want to grow, but let's look at where the money's actually going each month. Add up your entertainment spend: 🎬 Netflix — $8.99 📺 Cable/streaming bundle — $? 🎮 Gaming subscriptions — $? 🎵 Spotify/Apple Music — $? 📱 Other apps/subscriptions — $? Total: $______ Now add up what you spent on education/skill-building this month: courses, books, coaching, communities like this one. Total: $______ No judgment here, genuinely curious what the ratio looks like for people. Drop your numbers (or just the ratio if you want to keep it private) in the comments. I'll go first: 👇

Once a quarter I check the subscription spend and the ROI it returns. If spending money on everything that doesn't appreciate in value is the rule, adjustments are needed, and also allow for a little downtime too.
"Pick Your Brain"??
A business owner asks you for a quick 30-minute, "Just to pick your brain" call. (Or offers to take you to lunch.) No scope, no intro call, just advice. What do you do?

I would agree to the meeting as it is an opportunity to build a relationship and not every conversation has to be paid, unless there is a pattern of needing a few minutes or dinner that stretch into a 3 or 4 hour strategy conversation. Then I would be happy to extend 30 minutes or an hour complimentary and any thing beyond there's a nominal fee and calmly tell them upfront.
