As a priest, I use ventriloquism occasionally in my teaching. Philip, a young boy puppet, is a big hit for Vacation Bible School. Last summer, the kids were chanting Philip's name as they came down the hall to see me. Of course, he sometimes gets confused about things. The year that the theme centered around sea creatures and scuba diving, he refused to believe me when I told him about the jellyfish. He figured that there couldn't be jellyfish unless there were also peanut butter fish.
