Great Call!
A lot was covered on tonight's player development call! 3 highlights that come to mind: 1. The best coaches are able to turn complexity into simplicity 2. Three training methods are the games-based approach/CLA, Technical Skills, and Feel Good/Game Shots. How do you blend the 3 in different parts of the year to maximize growth and development? 3. Mastering Teaching Shooting mechanics can separate you as a coach Great chat! @Joseph Wunder @Peniel Smythe @Toby Lewis @Lonnie Favel See y'all for the next call this Friday at 10am est!

The best practices/training sessions all have one thing in common __________. Could be the energy, communication, competition, organization, or something completely different. I'm curious to hear what stands out to everyone.

@Brendan Williams That's a great plan. I loved your piece on doing something fun. That's a great way to start the session and get the brain going.

@Peniel Smythe Energy in sessions makes training so easy, let alone the BENEFIT from the energy and having fun from a performance standpoint.

@Clarence Claiborne What helped me with SSG's was getting thrown into the fire and doing it on the fly. The practical experience is key! Go check out the SSG course!

@Nelson Gouge Ball handling is how well you can MOVE with the ball. With that being said, get creative with your ball handling "drills." I love to play line tag or dribble knockout to get warm. This gets them moving in all directions, adding something external like tagging a teammate, WHILE having to keep the ball in their possession.
New coaching job
Coaches, I recently accepted a junior high coaching position with the potential to eventually step into a varsity basketball director role. My background is primarily playing and player development, so leading a full program will be new for me. What are the top 3 things you would establish now to build a successful program and system from junior high through varsity?
