Happy Friday, Makers! 🧶
We made it! However your week's gone — full-on, quiet, a bit of both — I hope you've got something nice planned for the next couple of days. I'd love to know: what's been the highlight of your week? Big or small, doesn't matter. And if this week's been more "just about survived it," that counts too — no judgement here, we've all had those weeks. A little shoutout to: @Debra Verrall did you finish that ton of work to before you went to bed? @Gayle Lunau Sherman how are you getting on with your sweater? Oh, and did you check out the beginners start here module? @Mirijam Pasquini did you resolve your foil problem? @Joy Green did you try out more lace patterns on your machine? @Glenna James how's your vintage pattern hunting going? You can always ask inside this community - pop a post and use the category questions. @Donna Mnisi have you checked out the classroom yet? The beginners start here is the best place to learn the basics. @Auli Takala what's on your knitting needles this week? I hope @June E Mackenzie is enjoying her holiday! @Jane Harbison how's your week gone? Any highlights for you? @Lindsay MacGregor I know you're having some time away at the moment, but I just wanted to check in with you and ask how your week's gone? It's not always about the knitting. @Suzanne Bell I know life is hectic for you at the moment, but just wanted to say hi and I hope you're week's getting a bit calmer for you. @Claire Amelia how's the chickens and the ducks after the sad event this week?

I looked at the swatch I knitted more closely and found there are some transfers that didn't work, so I knitted it again with the same make of yarn in a different colour, this time moving the lace carriage a bit more slowly, and it knitted perfectly this time. I'm leaving it to rest, then I'll wash and dry it for a tension swatch 🙂

@Jan Appleton something easy, a sleeveless v neck top maybe, with shaped shoulders... I'll measure a top that fits me and do the maths lol 😂 😂 (lucky I liked maths at school... 😂 😂)
Temu
Has anyone bought or tested this 'cashmere' yarn from Temu? It cost around 20 euros a 500gm cone, feels very soft, and didn't leave a black plastic type lump when I burned a strand, so it looks as if it's all 'natural' even if it's not 100% cashmere... 🙂🙂

Kh881 set up
My Kh881 is now set up with enough room to use the lace carriage properly 😎😎 Moved the double table with the 2 machines and junk to where the 881 was, and moved the 881 to in front of the other wall where my yarn is kept. Loads of room to knit actually 😁😁

@Jan Appleton we had a big motorhome with a small garage in the back when we moved - hubby packed everything in, luckily they were all in their boxes. We also brought a big tumble dryer over and stuffed it with cones and balls of yarn lol 😂 😂

@Jan Appleton oh yes!! 😊 😊
A little win 😎
After having to change a needle where I'd passed the lace carriage incorrectly and it got STUCK!, this is my first lace for years - kh881, Woolyknit 4ply, T8., card number 18m, 60 stitches, (30 on left and 30 on right of centre) . (Ignore the bottom pattern, it was a card I'd punched a few years ago)
A little win 😎

@Jan Appleton I might find a finer yarn and do a swatch... The holes won't be so big lol 😂 😂

@Jan Appleton 🤣
Singer / Superba fixed double bed machines
Has anyone else got one of these? I had one of these with the electronic 60 stitch light box in the 80s, it was brilliant. I managed to get one 2nd hand a few years ago but haven't managed to get the light box to work. But it's great for plain knitting. I also have one in the loft with I think it's an 18 stitch repeat - this one worked well when I last used it a couple of years ago, and the double jacquard is sooo easy to do. It's more or less automatic, not fiddly at all. Perhaps I'll swap that for the one downstairs sometime... 😊
