Finally closed on a business
Sellers are paid and working capital has hit the bank. Finally closed on my first acquisition. Quite a journey to get to this phase, but excited for the next step. It's a PR (public relations) business here in Boston, 20 years old with 7 employees. I know I haven't joined a lot of the calls and be super active in the group recently, but can attribute a lot of the mindset and approach that I used throughout the search process to various people in this group, so just want to say a quick thank you!

API S.O.S. - Simple tasks gone TERRIBLY wrong!
I have heard that setting up APIs for Apify, Gmail, and Google Drive should be quick, simple, and painless. @Chris Hall said it took him a few minutes to set up his initial Gmail API before he could use Claude to manage two inboxes. Has anyone had similar issues? I have multiple Gmail accounts (5+), and have invested at least 4 hours working with Claude to troubleshoot to no avail. Have any "more technical" searchers experienced this / think they have a fix?

The easiest way to make this work I've seen: 1) Apify has an MCP server. Integrate that directly with Claude or ChatGPT on the desktop app (ChatGPT has a tab called "Connections") 2) Set up a "daily task" to scrape. Make sure you do not go above your limits for Apify since each call can cost a few cents. Tell Claude / ChatGPT to use that connection to make the API call.
Will Your Deal Survive SBA Underwriting?
Many of you plan to use the SBA 7a program to finance your acquisition - and a few BIG changes are coming Oct 1st. - 5% minimum equity injection from the buyer - QoE required on deals > $3M - And several others And that's not including lender post-liquidity requirements. If you're wondering how your deal stacks up in this new environment, I created a SBA Stress Test tool to show you how. Input your capital structure details and see if your deal 'pencils out' before engaging with a lender or SBA broker. Check it out here: SBA Stress Test What are your questions following this latest change? Let me know below!

QoE being required is a great addition.
What Do Sellers Think Is Valuable That Buyers Don’t?
I’m new to the acquisition world and trying to learn how experienced buyers actually see a business. What’s one thing a seller usually thinks is a valuable asset that you tend to discount heavily — or even value at zero? I’m curious where buyers and sellers most often see the same business completely differently.

@Gabriel Turri I was watching this acquiring minds episode that had a case study where the buyer did actually find inventory that was quite valuable, but I agree with Jed's that modeling the worst case (where the inventory is not worth that much, for example outdated Laundry Machines in a laundromat), it seems very rare.
