This one might sting a little, but it could also set you free. Have you ever noticed that the people you know who have problems all the time never seem to solve their problems? And almost without exception, they are the same people who talk about their problems all the time. This isn't a coincidence. When you talk about negative things you increase them. You draw more of them into your life. The Bible says it this way: "To him that hath shall more be given. From him who hath not even that which he hath shall be taken away." What you focus on expands. What you confess, you possess, for better or for worse. But here's the deeper issue that most people never confront: It's not just that people talk about their problems. It's that many people have fallen in love with their suffering. They've lived with it so long. They've thought about it so deeply. They've built their identity around it. They've paid such a high price for it, that subconsciously they are not ready to let it go. You can't talk them out of it. You say "Why don't you just put it behind you?" They say "I can't do that." You say "Why don't you just move forward?" They say "You don't understand what I've been through." And they're right, you may not understand. But here's what's also true: Your suffering is not your identity. Your story is not your destiny. And the pain you've carried does not have to define the life you live. This connects directly to what we talked about with forgiveness. Unforgiveness and suffering often go hand in hand. The wound stays open. The enemy infests it. And what started as something painful slowly becomes something that shapes everything, your relationships, your outlook, your faith, your future. God is not asking you to pretend the pain didn't happen. He's asking you to stop letting the pain have the final word. Start watching your words this week. When someone asks how you're doing, what do you say? Do you rehearse your problems or do you declare your promise? The tongue has the power of life and death. And every time you speak life over your situation, even when it doesn't look like it yet, you are doing what God did in Genesis. You are speaking into the void. You are framing a new reality.
