Hi everyone! I’m really excited to be here. My daughter and I are about to take the leap and start the business we’ve been dreaming about for years. Funny enough, we first imagined opening a cozy specialty coffee shop and only later becoming a roastery. But the more we talked about our strengths, our story, and the kind of impact we wanted to have, the more we realized we had it backwards. So we’re starting with a specialty coffee roastery focused on B2B, while keeping a small takeaway coffee window as a way to share our coffee and build our brand with the local community. Coffee has been part of my family’s life for over a century. We’ve been producing commercial coffee in Brazil for generations, but I’ve always dreamed of being part of the specialty coffee world. The best surprise was discovering that my daughter—a creative artist—had fallen in love with that dream too, especially with the family stories behind every bean. We’re at the beginning of this journey, and I know we have a lot to learn. That’s one of the reasons I joined this community. I’m looking forward to learning from those who’ve already been through the challenges we’re about to face, sharing experiences, exchanging ideas, and hopefully giving back as we grow. Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Hi! @Juan Rosenzweig You can't imagine how good it feels to hear that—it really reassures me that we're on the right track. Being an entrepreneur can be a lonely journey sometimes. We tend to keep things within our small circle, so most of the time we're relying on our own judgment without much feedback along the way. That's why comments like yours are so valuable. To answer your question, I'm based in Porto, Portugal. I recently moved here, where my daughter has been living for the past three years, working as a barista. As you probably know, specialty coffee is a big part of the city's culture, which makes it a great place for this adventure. As for pricing, I'm still validating it, but at the moment I'm estimating somewhere between €50 and €70 per kilo, depending on the origin and sourcing of the coffee.I don't have a solid answer yet about customers. I haven't started prospecting the market yet, so I'm still in the lead and planning phase. At this stage, I'm focusing on the manufacturing structure for this business and making sure I can afford the budget, and we will soon begin reaching out to potential customers. There's more to come!

@Clara Gassner Thank you so much for your kind words! They really mean a lot to me. I think my daughter's love for specialty coffee started much earlier than either of us realised. Her very first memories are of the smell of coffee drying on the patio in front of the house on our family farm in Brazil, and of playing with the coffee beans while everyone was working. Coffee has simply always been part of her life. As she grew older and decided to immigrate, then specialty coffee really captured her interest. As for me, it's hard to pick just one favourite! Every origin has its own personality, but I have a soft spot for naturally processed Brazilian coffees. They remind me of home, and I never get tired of their comforting aroma. There's a lot of emotion in every cup when you've grown up surrounded by coffee. Thank you again for such a thoughtful message. It makes me even more excited to be part of this community! 💌
Coffee-to-go: fancy some coffee on your way?
I'm a coffee enthusiast and I was born in a region where most of the coffee consumed in the world comes from. Having such background motivates me to brand and sell unique specialty coffee in the town I live in, which is Kraków/Poland. I'm on my way to get there but would like to know who else would appreciate having a specialty coffee in hands while going to work OR just walking around with your beloved ones OR just as a solo wanderer? I'm leaving a poll below and would appreciate your quick opinion. Illustration of my brand attached for appreciation :)

I like the volcanic appeal but the letter font is feeling heavy to me, maybe it’s not about the black background but the lettering, Try something rounded like the logo.
