Week 2 Believe you can and you will
Here are some questions to think about and reflect as you read chapter 1. Feel free to comment under this post as you read the chapter. Do you think “thinking big” is realistic for everyone, or are there limits? How can belief impact leadership and influence over others? The chapter suggests that people often underestimate themselves. Why do you think that happens? How does environment (family, friends, school, workplace) influence someone’s level of belief? How does belief in one’s ability influence success, especially at the beginning of a new goal or challenge? Why do people sometimes hold back from pursuing bigger goals, even when opportunities are available? What are some common excuses people use, and how might those excuses limit growth or success?

@Gabriel Reyes Thanks for reckoning with my point, and now to answer your questions. I do think a lot of those fears and limitations often sit in the subconscious, especially because they’re shaped by past experiences, fear, and the environments we’ve been exposed to over time. From my perspective, that’s why many people don’t even realize how much those hidden beliefs influence their choices. They can feel normal until something challenges them. I think the book helps by bringing those patterns to the surface and encouraging us to question the limits we’ve accepted about ourselves. For me, unlearning those thoughts starts with awareness, then intentionally replacing fear-based thinking with bigger, more empowering beliefs.

@Gabriel Reyes This really resonates. Growth often starts where comfort ends, and sometimes embarrassment is just proof that we’re stretching beyond old limits. I love how you connected discomfort with transformation, because challenging ourselves repeatedly can truly reshape belief, but staying anchored to our “why” gives that growth real direction.

My name is Evangel, and I’m from the US. The last book I read was The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, and I’m currently looking forward to reading more fiction and non-fiction works that deepen storytelling and emotional connection. I joined Turn the Page because I’m passionate about helping writers grow through beta reading and editorial insight, and I want to sharpen my ability to give meaningful, reader-focused feedback. One goal I’m currently working on is improving my skill in analyzing manuscripts more deeply, especially in terms of structure, pacing, and clarity, so I can better support authors on their publishing journey. I’m excited to learn, grow, and connect with everyone here
