Effort Isn't Value
Using AI does not make your work less yours. It exposes whether you ever confused effort with value. The Effort Tax The hidden cost of believing work only counts when you personally perform every step. The Flawed Premise: We tend to measure ownership by effort. If we spent three hours writing the proposal, it feels earned. If AI helped write it in twenty minutes, something about it feels less legitimate. The assumption is simple: More effort = more value. It doesn't. The Hidden Reality: Your customer doesn't experience your process. They experience the result. A clear proposal is still clear. A useful strategy is still useful. A good decision is still a good decision. The question is not who typed every sentence. The question is who made the judgement. --- I used to think the hard way was the honest way. If something mattered, I should do it myself. Write it myself. Research it myself. Structure it myself. Polish it myself. Then I realised what was happening. I was spending my best thinking on work that did not require my best thinking. The writing was taking the time. The judgement was getting squeezed into whatever time remained. That is backwards. When you hire an assistant, you don't outsource responsibility. You outsource tasks. When you use accounting software, you don't outsource financial judgement. You remove repetitive work. AI is the same shift. The tool can produce the first draft. It cannot decide what deserves to survive. It can structure the offer. It cannot know whether the offer is worth making. It can clean up the proposal. It cannot take responsibility for sending it. That part is still yours. And this is where the uncomfortable bit starts. While you're worrying that using AI makes your work less authentic, someone else is using it to remove the parts of the work that never needed their attention in the first place. They're not necessarily better. They're operating with less friction. You are measuring how hard you worked.

@Eric J Michael well normally when people are writing you are in the mindset of let me try and improve this to someone but then in the process you start using redundancies meaning you start using redundant words you start repeating yourself and what this does is that it removes all of that and it makes it cleaner meaning let’s say you make two different points but it’s essentially the same thing. It will make it one point, but say both things.

@Eric J Michael to me I’m just the Prompt engineer I like creating prompts to do many different things I like to create systems to build other things for example, this. Prompt was built using a Prompt called a component marketplace where you literally pick what component you want to be in the Prompt and away you go And you literally get given 20 components and you select which one you want, but it also gives your budget of credit so you don’t go overboard to selecting anything and everything
