@Catalina Roman It is a complex question and judging by the variety of opinions, philosophically and psychologically, it seems to be agreed upon by few. I understand consciousness as a supreme awareness of what and who we are separate from any physical being; we are aware that we live and we can observe our thoughts without being the thought itself. Perhaps terms like, "subconscious", "unconcious", even "superconscious" are just differences in the level of clarity or awareness that we are operating in at any given moment. I personally sense there are heightened levels of awareness where we are more receptive to inner/spritual shifts and through those experiences, we can ascend to an even more sharper level of living, connectedness to the Universe and to each other. This latter thing seems less likey when our conscius state is stuck at a lower more, cognitive level. My immediate thoughts with a cup of coffee. Thanks!
