Why Should I speak for free? 🎤 By Danielle Drew
I was just reading this post over in the amazing Danielle Drews community "Public Speaking - Vocal Power", and I needed to share it with all of you here because this is gold from a lady that seriously knows her stuff. This is one of the most common questions I get.....and I understand.... Your Ego Wants Payment. But... Event Organisers Want Proof The key here is understanding this ...𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮. The skill is learning to recognise the currency. The most valuable things a stage gives you never show up on an invoice. They are... ✅ Proof: the assets. Video clips, photos, and testimonials that show you deliver. ✅ Prospects: the connections with people in the audience who may want to work with you. ✅ Partners: meeting organisers and influential people who can refer you to bigger stages. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒇, 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒃𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒃𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒔. When you're starting out, take the chamber breakfast, the local association, the small podcast. Every stage is reps. It's how you sharpen your message, find your stories, and start building the proof that event organisers want to see. 𝐀𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐬, 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥. Once you have strong proof and credibility, you can start choosing free gigs based on who's in the room and which of the three P's they're most likely to deliver. 𝑂𝑛𝑒 𝑝𝑢𝑧𝑧𝑙𝑒 𝑝𝑖𝑒𝑐𝑒 𝑚𝑎𝑘𝑒𝑠 𝑛𝑜 𝑠𝑒𝑛𝑠𝑒 𝑜𝑛 𝑖𝑡𝑠 𝑜𝑤𝑛. 𝐾𝑒𝑒𝑝 𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑐𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑚, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑏𝑢𝑖𝑙𝑑 𝑎 𝑝𝑖𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒 In September I spoke at the 80th anniversary of our local Rural Fire Brigade. I didn't do it for exposure or leads. I did it because it was a chance to give back to people who serve our community. However I ended up meeting several high-profile politicians who were there to honour the brigade. Partners I never would have met if I'd only said yes to "strategic" gigs. 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧: 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮.

@Beth Egmon love that. Totally true about the missing response from audience. Hope you'll learn it anyway. Should be a matter of training, she said. Have to learn it myself too 😉

@Danielle Drew I'm practicing. That's a big step forward 😁
Chronic symptoms that never fully let go? Join a free 30-minute healing session
Your body has been struggling for a long time. You’ve probably tried a lot already, and part of you is just tired of waiting for relief. This Tuesday I’m holding a 30-minute collective healing session for exactly that. 📅 Tuesday, October 20 · 5:00–5:30pm (Paris time) 📍 Here’s the link 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀: We gather first, I explain briefly what we’ll do, then for 20 minutes you simply sit and notice while I send healing energy to what the group needs. There is nothing to prepare, only a space without distractions. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗮 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽: It feels like a meditation, but it goes deeper because of the healing energy and the collective we create together. Your body is always trying to heal. Sometimes it just needs a little help from the outside to settle into the calm state where that can happen. I’m Ettjen, and I work with people with chronic and mystery illnesses. I do this remotely, so you can join from your couch or your bed, and it works just as well as in person. Can’t make it live? There’s no replay, but message me beforehand (DM me) and I’ll include you in the session, even if you can’t be online. I post my findings afterwards in my free Skool community, Navigate Chronic Fatigue. These sessions are free to join for now. Soon they’ll move to a premium tier, so come along while they’re open to everyone.

@Heather Wilson i will! Great to have you. While you're sleeping is actually a good option. Your mind will at least not be in the way. 😉

@Heather Wilson you're on the list. Get back to me when you wake up, and share if you had any sensations during the night (weird dreams, lying awake, all is possible).

@Heather Wilson so is it listening to some speakers, or really an open convo?

@Janet Goodman I do intuitive work, but it's very specific and I don't see myself as a medium. I don't get messages like a medium does, but I get nudges and practice to listen to them more. I use a pendulum to confirm the nudges.

What if not every emotion a child struggles with actually started with them?
It's a question that changed how I understood my own children's behaviour, and it's something I'd love to see more parents exploring. Most of us grow up assuming that every thought, feeling or emotion we experience must originate within us. But what if there's another layer to consider? What if some highly sensitive, ADHD and neurodivergent children are connecting with emotional experiences around them, without even knowing that's a possibility? Imagine trying to manage intense feelings and reactions without understanding where they might be coming from. And imagine being the parent, trying everything you know to help, without realising there may be another part of the experience worth exploring. This is the conversation I'm opening up inside my Energy-Wise Parenting Hub. My live calls each week, the next one is Wednesday Oct 21st at 7 a.m. Sydney time, is where parents can bring their questions, curiosity, challenges and real-life parenting moments. We're exploring what may be happening beneath confusing behaviour, and what parents can begin noticing and changing in their own emotional experiences. You don't have to agree with everything I suggest. Curiosity is a wonderful place to begin! If you're a parent, or you know parents who may find this conversation valuable, you're very welcome to come and explore.

I certainly believe that children are able to perceive so much more than we adults.

@Kerry Upham love that. I'm aware of it too. I speak to my children about energies every day. They think it's woo-woo in regard of their friends' view. But they also see the benefits and direct effects of it (I use it to heal). So let's create that movement of a new normal!
