Somerset: One of Molly & Pip’s Favourite Places 🐾🌿
Somerset is one of mine and @Esther Nelson's favourite places. But if I’m honest, it’s really Molly and Pip who made the decision for us. We’ve holidayed there now 3 out of the last 4 years, and every time we arrive they behave like we’ve brought them back to their personal kingdom. There’s one spot in particular they’ve claimed as their own: Quantock Cottages, a peaceful little cluster of cottages tucked between rolling hills and ancient woodland… where the only things that break the silence are birds, the wind, and your dogs charging ahead because they’ve found an exciting smell. That’s the vibe. The walks around there are ridiculous in the best way possible. Long trails, wide open fields, forests that look like they’ve been fashioned for a movie - and paths that seem designed specifically for dogs who want to sniff every blade of grass. Molly goes full detective mode the second we arrive. Pip does her usual “We live here now!” routine. And honestly? We kinda do the same. Quantock Cottages has become the kind of place where: - the dogs are muddy within five minutes - you are relaxed within ten - and everyone sleeps like they’ve done a triathlon by bedtime Every year we think, “We should try somewhere new...” Then we look at how happy (and tired!) Molly and Pip are and suddenly we’re booking it again.... I'll share a few photos in a minute - I'm sure Esther will add more, because this is one of those places that dogs just understand immediately. It’s freedom. It’s quiet. It’s pure joy. If your dogs have a “favourite place” they drag you back to again and again, let us know. We love hearing where everyone’s pups come alive. 🐶💚

We also discovered a long, empty beach this time. They are mostly pebble along this coastline, but lovely for a walk.

@Richard Lee looks like one of the places we like to go on holiday. Your dogs seem to like it a lot!
Dressing your dogs - good or bad??
Now the weather is getting so cold here in the UK, we're seeing a lot of dogs on walks in coats and jumpers. We do have a little raincoat for Pip as her fur collects wet and dirt so easily, but we don't tend to put it on her very often as it makes her run in a strange sideways manner! We also have some towelling coats for when they are wet (which are brilliant, btw!) What are your thoughts? Do you dress up your dog in the cold, or just make the walks shorter/stay indoors and play games instead?

@Stevi-Lee Alver That is a lot of jumpers! He must take up half your wardrobe! 😅 Do you buy them online, or do you have a favourite store near you?

@Stevi-Lee Alver yes, we're still finding our feet and will be in touch with everyone to talk about the direction we'd like to take the community in. There's clearly interest - we have new members joining every day!
Take care of those paws
I made a homeopathic paw balm, it has no chemicals and is extremely healthy. It makes their paws soft and helps heal cracks .

Oo, that's interesting, Tamara. What ingredients did you use?

Do you think it's something that would help with a dog's claws breaking? Our Cockerpoo regularly splits her claws. It causes her pain and isn't nice for us to see! Thinking about it though, her paws are one of the few areas she really doesn't like us touching, so we might struggle to put any kind of balm or ointment on them.
