It's check in time!
How is everyone doing this week? If you're still on the no-buy, how has it been going? If you're technically "done", how has it felt to be back in the world without your rules? Have you noticed any changes in your thinking?

@Kobi Ringling yeah sometimes I feel guilty buying even if it's a necessity. 😬

@Melissa Welch πŸ˜†πŸ˜†thanks
Another check in! :)
I believe many of you have now passed the 30 day mark! Big round of applause!! I know many of you are doing no-buy periods of 3, 6, or 12 months, and I totally encourage that! But I also want to celebrate your first 30 days! Please share with the community (and me!): - What changed for you during this month? - What habits do you not want to go back to? - What guidelines or boundaries would you like to keep? (Or are you continuing with a longer no-buy period?) - What was your biggest takeaway after 30 days? - How do you want your future shopping to feel?

My biggest takeaway was being mindful of what I buy and the why. Thinking about each thing that I need to buy made me realize that some stuff I don't really need, also not shopping until the product that I need actually finishes. I used to buy things before I ran out so I would end up with many duplicates.
How many of you are also decluttering right now?
Hi! Just a quick question - I am curious to know how many of you are decluttering a little bit during your no-buy challenge period? How has that felt? Would anyone be interested in doing a community "decluttering session" together, where we all log on at a set time and declutter together for additional accountability/be able to chat together? I like to ask that because I really see decluttering and becoming an intentional shopper / buying less STUFF as two sides of the same coin. If you don't do both, you aren't going to get the sustainable, meaningful life change. What questions do you have that I can help with?

I started decluttering since November and it lead me to this group actually lol. I think both things definitely need to go together although I'm more cautious of " what if I need it and I'm not buying no more"... so I'm fighting this feeling.

@Melissa Welch yes! That would be really interesting. For example I feel guilty getting rid of things knowing that I could need them in the future but I also think I'm making excuses and I should just get rid of the thing... then I just feel frustrated.
Check in time!
Would you please create a post in here and tell us about: - One moment that felt empowering - One moment that still felt challenging - One thing this challenge has already taught you about yourself - One unexpected benefit that you’ve experienced since starting this challenge

One moment that felt empowering... I went to target because I needed to use the restroom... it was an emergency lol πŸ˜† and I walked around the store and didn't feel the need to buy anything. I think we are brainwashed into thinking we need to buy but we really don't. One moment that still felt challenging... so far I'm doing ok One thing this challenge has already taught you about yourself... I learned that I can control myself and I can teach myself to do anything. One unexpected benefit that you’ve experienced since starting this challenge.... It feels liberating being about to say no to impulse shopping.
I'm going to the next level
Hello everybody! I live in NYC and it's expensive living here. I learned about minimalism during the pandemic and I tried to apply it in my life in a "light" way trying to be more mindful of spending and getting rid of stuff. This year I think I'm ready to go to the next level and I already got rid of a ton of stuff and there's still more that needs to go. My main goal this year is to stop buying things which is why I joined the group and also I think this would help me to pay off my debt. I'm really excited to be in this community because it's hard trying to be a minimalist in a world that is pushing us to do the opposite. 😁

@Melissa Welch omg! Yes! I live in Queens and I was telling my mom about the group and how I'm doing the no buy challenge but also trying not to spend that we should go to different parks and bring our own snacks. Also there's free nights at the different museums I think we can have a good summer without spending too much this year. Btw thank you for creating this spaceπŸ’•πŸ’•
