SOTD: French Avenue Azzure Aoud
Final bottle sent over by @Eric Jones, thanks again bro! This one is a bit tricky for me. It opens up very nice with some passion fruit and other fruit notes. However this doesn’t last very long as it’s overpowered by saffron and is slightly harsh to my nose. Not bad but not the best. The mid is decent with oud and benzoin. Nothing spectacular to report lol. The dry down is probably the best part about the frag with sandalwood leather and vanilla which is nicely blended. It performs well and lasts a good amount of time. I know this is a dupe of Oud Maracuja but have never smelled the OG. I’ll give this one some time on the shelf to see if it grows on me.

Another one I couldn’t get past the opening. Too harsh for my nose. I even notice my tastes are evolving but this one I just couldn’t get on board with. Hopefully additional maceration helps it even out for you.

The 3rd gift from @Eric Jones. I’ve read this is an inspiration of Creed Centaurus which I have not smelled before. Let me know if that’s incorrect. It was a chilly 50 degrees this morning and the accords on this one looked like they would work. It starts off with a sweet spicy aspect from cinnamon and cardamom. It’s well blended and not overly sweet. The open lasted about 15 minutes before I started to pick up on some tobacco while the cinnamon still lingered. I don’t pick up much else in the mid as the tobacco and cinnamon run the show. About 2.5 hours in the vanilla and tonka showed up along with some woods. The cinnamon was still hanging around though giving it a vanilla cookie vibe. Projection for the first 3ish hours was excellent at about a 2-3 foot bubble. After that it died down to within arms length and is still lingering 6 hours later. I’ve wanted to dive into Aromatix for a while but kept putting it off. Now that they have the new releases and I have this bottle I might pick up a couple.

This one smelled great, but just felt redundant with everything else I’ve picked up. Got it on super sale at Jomashop which was nice. I quickly got to a point in my collecting where now I’m already picking up on redundancies so trying to diversify a bit. Hope you enjoy this one. 💪🏽
SOTD: French Avenue Vulcan Sable
1st of the 4 s(c)ent over by @Eric Jones. @Henry Clay said this is a dupe of SHL Sand Dance which I have not tried. This one opens up with a boozy note and some citrus which is slightly sweet not bitter before being taken over by the tonka in the mid and a touch of the licorice smell from anise. Definitely not an overpowering licorice but it’s there. The base is nice with vanilla scents and some patchouli. If you like sweet vanilla woody frags this might be for you. I like it but will only get wears out of it in the winter month(s) as it feels a bit heavy at least for most of the year. It projects like a beast I did 6 total sprays and it’s pushed out about 4 feet for the first 4 hours before tightening in to about a foot after that. It’s been 8 hours and I’m still smelling it. Overall not a bad fragrance. Thanks again Eric!

You’re welcome @Blake Merl . I’m actually wearing it this morning WFH since I can’t wear overly-powerful scents in office. Mine has macerated for about 2 months (I bought 2 on accident, hence your gift LOL) so looking to see how long it lasts. Projection is strong…I can smell it all around me like a cloud in this first hour I have it on. I’ll like to my own full review later but I’d say so far yours is spot on.

@Blake Merl facts!

Got home from work and showered so I figured I’d throw this one on to see if it lives up @Thomas Chavezs hype lol. Only had it on for about an hour and these are my initial thoughts. The open has a nice mixture of saffron, cinnamon and spiciness, I don’t detect the listed ginger note. It’s a nice scent for sure. After about the first 30 mins it got extra sweet and a little smoky with some oud notes. Smells like someone doused a tree sugar and tried to light it on fire but it only got charred a bit. Surprisingly it’s not bad. Not sure how they made it work but it does. Not sure of the dry down yet as I’m not picking up any of the listed notes. Maybe after another hour or two it’ll transition. I’ll add the performance and longevity once I can get a feel for it.

I wish I could have loved this one. The saffron was too much for my nose. I ended up picking up Swar Seduir by Arabiyat which also inspos Oud Crivelli and it definitely has a much more muted saffron opening. It’s sitting now but the bottle you got was about 2 months macerated so you should get a full experience with it. Hope you enjoy!
A pleasant surprise!
Checked the mail today and sure enough @Eric Jones sent me a surprise package. He said he had something to send me but I wasn’t expecting this! Thanks brother!
