I just completed week one and one big quote I took to heart was the Lincoln quote: "If I had eight hours to chop down a tree, I'd spend six sharpening my axe.” Take the time to fill out the worksheets and study to answer the questions so it's tailored to your niche and will benefit in the future according to the videos.
This Sh*t Is Boring (But It Works)
Everyone skips the boring parts of business... They scroll past the basics. They skim over the fundamentals. They search for the "secret sauce." Here's the truth: while you're watching motivational videos, someone else is doing the work you're avoiding. The market doesn't care about your excuses. It pays for execution. And execution isn't sexy. It's not complicated. It's doing what everyone knows they should do, but won't. Let me show you what actually works: 1. Do What You Know - Send 100 cold calls - Follow up with leads in 5 minutes - Track important metrics religiously Simplicity scales where complexity fails. 2. Kill Your Distractions - Time limit your social media apps - Block YouTube during work - Turn off all notifications Focus makes more money than talent. 3. Choose One Path - Pick one business model - Master one traffic source - Serve one type of carrier Riches come from niches. 4. Double Down Daily - Do more of what's working - Cut what isn't immediately - Keep pushing when it's boring The boring work is what makes you rich. 5. Buy Time Not Theory - Learn proven systems fast - Execute them immediately - Cut years off your journey Speed to market beats perfection. Reality check: While everyone else is hunting for the "secret formula," the real winners are executing the basics at a higher level than everyone else. They're not doing anything fancy. They're not using hidden tricks. They're just willing to do the boring work longer and harder than anyone else. You already know what to do. Now it's time to stop skipping over it. -- Are you ready to start your dispatching business? Huge reality check! I fell to this too. I would push getting things started because "I'm not ready", but reality is I'll never be 100% ready and just have to be eager to learn and simply just do it.
How to Beat 99% of Dispatchers 🧠
Most truck dispatchers fail in their first 6 months. I nearly became another statistic until I realized something: 99% of dispatchers do the exact same things... and get the exact same results. Here's what the 1% do: 1. Do The Boring Work - Show up when motivation dies—that's when others quit - Master the basics before chasing shortcuts - Track everything—what gets measured gets improved Progress isn't sexy. But neither is being broke. 2. Study The Best - Find someone who has what you want - Copy their process before you get creative - Pay for speed—it's cheaper than learning alone Success leaves clues. Stop ignoring them. 3. Spot The Gap - Solve expensive problems, not interesting ones - Look where others aren't looking - Your "too obvious" solution is someone's gold mine The riches are in the niches you're afraid to enter. 4. Focus On Winning Moves - Do what works until it stops working - Cut what doesn't work immediately - Simple and consistent beats complex and perfect Champions do boring things for extraordinary amounts of time. 5. Avoid Common Mistakes - Stop consuming more than you create - Quit selling to people who can't pay - Kill your ego before it kills your business Being different beats being better. Every single time. Look, you can keep doing what the 99% do. Or you can act right now. ⬇️ -- Are you ready to start dispatching? Very well said!
Within my first 5 weeks!
The busyness of the holiday season is behind us for the most part. Now the busy time has fully transitioned over to my dispatching business. When I initially visited the Dispatch University, I had no idea what the full concept of dispatching was. I would see many of job postings around this title. Seeing this.I decided to deep dive a bit further and see what it was all about. For about a good solid week i was online reading up on watching videos etc. During this research, I came across a video that displayed @Gurpreet Gill picture on it and the titel of "How to become a Dispatcher" clicked on it, and from there binge watched many more of his postings. Which is how I ended up at Gill Dispatch Skool. A few days after that, I joined Dispatch University. Over the last 5 weeks, I LEARNED so much within the videos, Everything thoroughly explained, hours of note taking (literally wrote a novel of notes) and just lightbulbs inmy head going off daily. I definitely can say that I learned much more on the DNS, website building side of things, with a lot of trial and error. (more error) for me lol! But got through most of it. When I reached week 4, I took a break and let the holidays take over with some time away from many of things. But have since picked back up after the New Year. (Happy New year to all!) As I got my business officially in place, i utilized setting up my cold & warn leads concepts through social media, Made flyers and business cards that I inserted into goodie bags that I made for Owner Operators for the holiday season, took those and personally handed them out on Christmas Eve. From there, I decided that I would initiate another step, AND do a different type of lead generating. What did I decide on you say? Well, I turned my LinkedIn Account into a Employer seeking Employee page from a personal account. I figured this could be a unique way of getting inquiries as well. ANNDDDD, with that being said, in day one, I received 7 applicants, each day from there at least 1 more applicant and in that week a total of 14 applicants. As I get applicants, I read through each resume, qualifications and responses to the additional questions that I ask. Not all applicants are a good fit (as that may arise) but I interview the applicants of choice, just as if they are applying for any other position.
