Happy Friday- Rose, Thorn, Bud
Every night I put my oldest to bed we talk about our rose of the day- bright spot, thorn, low spot, bud- something to look forward to. We try to do this with Adam, but he doesn’t like it, mainly I think his Brain is DONE, as end of the night. Also could be hard with the vocab- we try to switch to happy sad, still no, could also be hard for him to recall past events and draw to his current mind. So my oldest and I do it, and I’m think our community should do it! So share a rose, thorn or bud in the comment ❤️

Rose—Teddy didn’t cry when seeing Santa and he actually sat next to him! Progress from the last couple years. I wouldn’t say he was thrilled but he wasn’t upset so we’ll take it! We’re excited to see the pictures.

Teddy did so well!! He went to every house and said “thank you.” He was a man on a mission making sure he hit every house 😂 but he stayed regulated the entire time and didn’t get overwhelmed by all the people, which was amazing. Last Halloween, he wouldn’t even get out of the stroller to go get himself candy. It’s easy to overlook the progress day-to-day, but then looking back a year it’s so nice to see the growth.
Behaviors at school
Just got off the phone with the SPED teacher from Adams school, he’s been spitting at kids🫠 I needed to first understand the context as to which he was doing this. Given the deeper insights, it seems that Adam is spitting at kids that he doesn’t like and those kids typically have a harder time communicating, and he’s getting really big reactions and he’s laughing about it💔 it’s not funny, it’s sad and mean, but that DOES NOT Correlate that Adam is mean. It means he needs a little more social understanding on the how people might feel, what else can you do when you don’t like someone, why is spitting not good. These social nuances around behaviors can give us so much insight.

My son, Teddy, has such a hard time with the same thing at school. He’s always scratching or pushing other kids on the playground. He thinks they’re playing like tigers or superhero; he doesn’t understand he’s hurting them. It’s super hard to teach/get him to understand.
Alone time
Currently in the mountains with my sister! I haven’t been alone?!!!Since I can’t remember! Do you allow yourself to get away? Let yourself get taken care of? Or still a work in progress?
