I tried to become that ‘5AM productive person’ So I set my alarm for 5AM. I went to bed early. I felt motivated. I felt powerful. Alarm goes off. I open one eye… and immediately start negotiating with myself like I’m in a hostage situation. Okay, just 5 more minutes. Next thing I know it’s 9:47AM, I’m in a blanket burrito, my phone is on 3% battery, and I’m scrolling motivational quotes like, Rise and grind. Sir. I didn’t even rise. Now I’m trying to convince myself that waking up at 10AM is fine because I’m more productive at night. Meanwhile, my night routine is just me staring at the ceiling thinking about embarrassing things I did in 2013. Moral of the story? I still believe in the 5AM life… Just not for me personally. 😭

When I was a kid, I wanted to be all the usual things — writer, teacher, maybe even an FBI agent if the mood struck. What I didn’t put on the list? Landscaper. Farmer. Pig wrangler. Tomato midwife. Yet here we are. It started innocently enough:A little backyard garden with tomatoes and cucumbers. Then…That turned into an urban farm. Which turned into us raising pigs. Which turned into us taking care of our pigs on a milk cow farmer’s property (because of course it did). Which turned into Tim mowing some lawns.Which turned into us taking care of entire estates. Which turned into— Surprise.We’re landscapers now. Every time we’re outside hauling branches or fixing something with zip ties and sheer willpower, I look at Tim, my husband, and say: “Wild. I had no idea I wanted to be a landscaper when I grew up.” Life doesn’t always follow your childhood blueprint… Sometimes it hands you a rake and a pig and says,“Figure it out.” Your turn —What did you want to be when you grew up, and what did life turn you into instead?

1. 💚 My favorite color is green. And similar to my love of potatoes in many forms, I like green in many shades. I'm a wife, mom of two kids, and have a high-maintenance mini bernedoodle. 2. 🦋 I'M TOO OLD to know anything about Pokemon. I used to have a lot of hobbies before children, and one day, will get back into that but I'm BUSY cultivating interests in the next generation. 3. 😺 Skool is new and I'm trying to get off the ground, so you can imagine the number of initial obstacles I could list. Most important currently is figuring out what people on Skool want that isn't already available to them so I can create a space for it. 🫠
