I realized that your words about getting in our own way resonated with me. I have used excuses to avoid doing something I have wanted to do for so long. My fear of failure or overvaluing the importance of my work has been my roadblock. For several years, I have wanted to write a book about lessons learned in my career which spanned 40 years. I start to compile my thoughts and then think that maybe I am placing too much value on my perception and my thoughts and my experiences. What if no one finds it interesting or even worth reading? In my mind, I am preparing to write this book and I even casually mention it to my friends…but I have not truly committed or even started. This week, I will seriously ask a friend in the field, someone I trust, what they think about my idea. i will be open to feedback, not to scrap the idea, but to begin to genuinely mold it.

Just WOW…as you read the excerpt from your book, I felt a little uncomfortable because you were describing me…The shift in my career (not for the income, but the opportunity) and the dream trip to see the Northern Lights and stay in an igloo were all mapped out…until I began to feel that I was in over my head career wise and the trip would be too costly. So here I sit, surrounded by the negative self talk and anxiety that I have wrapped myself in, like a warm familiar blanket. Here I sit, where it is easy and safe. I am excited to commit to something that I can can use to build my tool box and over the next 8 weeks, I will breathe deep and reboot. I look forward to stepping outside of the neatly drawn box I have created.

I'm currently writing my first book which I find fun, and I love getting outdoors and being in nature. While my schedule is busier than ever, I am making more time for slowing down and enjoying my life than I ever have before and it's non-negotiable and glorious!
I am a recently retired victim advocate and grant writer, currently working as a consultant to continue the work I love. I am finally investing in me to begin to find balance and to tap into the energy that I have long ignored. I hope to learn as much as I can through this group to implement techniques and strategies for peace, energy and creativity in my life. I want to tap into my full potential.
