Another signing, another reminder to read carefully.
We recently reviewed a file that included this instruction: "Obtain the Agent's information and a copy of his/her ID. The Agent must reside in Florida and accept/sign the appointment as a funding condition." When we received the scanbacks, the designated Agent hadn't signed the document. We contacted the notary to let them know... Unfortunately, instead of having the Agent sign, the notary signed the document herself. This is a good reminder that not every signature line belongs to the borrower or the notary. Before asking someone to sign, always take a moment to ask yourself: ✅ Who is this signature line intended for? ✅ Am I the right person to complete this section? A few extra seconds reading the document can prevent corrections and funding delays.

This is so important. I also keep going back to signings to correct other notaries errors for signing on signature lines that are for the closer or settlement agent. We are the notary public. Not the closing agent and not the settlement agent.
🤍 The power of mutual respect
Hi community, my name is Angely, I am the 6th scheduler from The Closing Signing Service A few days ago, one of our trusted VIP mobile notaries drove out to a signing that, unfortunately, did not close. Knowing how much effort, gas, and preparation goes into every single appointment, our team didn't wait for her to ask for compensation. We proactively paid her for her time and effort anyway. Shortly after, she sent us a deeply personal message that truly touched our hearts: "Thank you so much for putting yourselves in my shoes and genuinely valuing my effort. It means the world to work with a team that actually understands what we go through on the road." This feedback reminded us exactly why we do what we do. Our mission isn't just to close files; it’s to build a fair, supportive, and respectful environment for the professionals who make our business possible. To all the hard-working notaries out there: your time is valuable, your mileage is real, and your dedication does not go unnoticed. Let’s keep raising the bar for how we support one another! 🤝

What's one habit that made you a better signing agent?
It doesn't have to be something big. Maybe you started: ✅ Reviewing the package before leaving home. ✅ Confirming IDs during your reminder call. ✅ Double-checking every notarization before leaving the table. ✅ Leaving extra time between appointments. ✅ Reading the instructions before printing. Sometimes the smallest habits make the biggest difference in reducing mistakes and creating a smoother signing experience. 💬 What's one habit you've developed that has improved your signings? Share it below, you might help another notary improve theirs too.

Ongoing education, never forgetting my roots of what got me where I am now, and I always put a post it note for important things specific to that signing on the package
⚠️ A quick tip if you're looking to work with signing services...
We've noticed this happens more often than you might think. Some notaries visit our website looking to join our network, but instead of creating a SigningOrder profile, they accidentally fill out our client contact form. Before submitting your information on any signing service's website, take a moment to make sure you're registering through the correct portal. If you're looking for work as a notary, it's always worth checking whether the company uses a vendor platform like SigningOrder or another onboarding system. A simple click in the wrong place can delay opportunities. 💬 Have you ever accidentally registered as a client instead of as a notary?

I realize mistakes happen, however paying attention to detail, and double checking is imperative in the notary business. You never get a second chance to make a first impression. I do my absolute best to get it right the first time. I take the time, I invest more of myself, because my name, and the integrity of my business is on the line. Blatant errors like this are costly, and unacceptable. Just pay attention, it matters.
Do you travel with a mobile printer?
Hi, I'm Mariangel, a scheduler at TCSS. 👋 We had a seller package that was almost finished, and the notary had already completed the signing. At the very last minute, the title company realized they had missed two documents (5 pages) and needed them signed ASAP. Thankfully, the notary had a mobile printer in their vehicle, so they were able to print, sign, and resolve the order on the spot! It saved the day and avoided a trip back. I’m curious to see how you all work: Do you keep a mobile printer in your car for these types of situations, or do you prefer to print everything at your office/home before heading out? How often does having a mobile printer actually save a closing for you?
