Closing the Society
Hi friends, this week I’ll be archiving The Society. I'm simplifying my life and fully focusing on my Coaching Program community. Right now they are thriving and deserve my full attention. My vision for this group was always bigger than image sharing. I wanted to build a collaborative community with me, other Pros, and members who wanted to break out of the social media paradigm of vanity, likes and follows. I wanted to create a community built on conversations and relationships, online and offline. To keep that vision alive would require many hours of teaching, support, and collaboration, and right now, I simply don’t have the time (or resources) to sustain it. I plan to have an oil painting focused community soon. That is the next stage in my evolution so I will dedicate my hours and labor to this new chapter in my life. If you are interested in that, please follow me on my new website (I will start writing beautiful articles there again) and join my free email list. That is where I will do my teaching and guiding for now. Thank you for being part of this. Skool is still in it's infancy, but I know it will become as mainstream as Facebook. As censorship of nude figurative art and beautiful realism as a whole continues to rise, the mass of artists like me will eventually migrate here. So thank you for being a pioneer with me. To those who resonate with me and align with my mission to build a sanctuary for beauty online I hope to meet you again. Much love and peace be with you until we meet again.❤️🤝

I’ve enjoyed this forum. It’s understandable that you can’t juggle so many things at once All the best 😊

As the month is coming to a close I was thinking more on this topic. I was walking the dog this morning. It is cool but sunny and the leaves are still full of color. Not could be more lovely-the sky holes between the branches and lichens growing on old trees. Uncut grass in the yard of an abandoned house was a lovely color of salmon and the seed heads were a pretty blond. I walked past a house with a heavily manicured lawn. The plantings on the front were regimented and stiff. Day lilies separated at exacting distances. And it made me think (according to my tastes) that it was cold and uninspired. A real estate agent may disagree of course And I my thoughts wandered to Chris’s original topic-how censorship sterilizes art. How can a human figure be ugly if the natural world is more beautiful than anything we create? Is it that some people wish to control it? Is the need to organize and sanitize their fear of a world bigger than themselves? If so, that’s sad. Enough philosophizing. Have a beautiful day 🙂

@Chris Legaspi I took so many years off of art that I trained my thoughts into ones that focused on achieving goals. Doing art does help you see that what th8bgs differently. You see colors and shapes more vividly. It’s very calming
Trying a new approach
I like to try to learn from artists I admire. I may not be able to emulate what they do exactly but I certainly can learn from it. I tried to learn from how @Chris Legaspi hatches because I really like how effective it is And I really like how he has a gentle and delicate touch but the figures are still very dynamic. So I gave this pose from a new masters reference a try with those things in mind. Somewhere I read-likely from one of those how to draw tutorials online-that you should never try to blend graphite. I ignored that. I don’t have that much control over my hatch marks so it’s necessary

@Daniel Juric thank you and I agree with you about the “never”. There are certain “nevers” I listen to-never mix chlorine with ammonia. Never stick a fork into a light socket. But in art, it silly. I thought it was odd when I read it. But the person posting had their opinion. Thanks for the idea of using a different hardness. I often go to a softer pen to bring out a silhouette or a corner. I’ll experiment

Ok. So I was working on this cast and i thought I was well close to it. Later what i saw is that the trap muscles were a bit off as compared to the photo. What should I do. Can I correct it? The drawing at the extreme right is the latest stage

Sorry About the Bots
They come in waves. We are doing the best we can. I am really strict with the new member questions. I turn down A LOT! I don't care about growth, I care about the culture. Our entry questions are quite specific so I am very strict. But the bots come in waves. It's a part of internet life. This won't be the last time either. Please report anything and everything to me.
