Welcome to Mindful Gardening! 🌱
I'm Mercedes, your host. I hold an RHS Level 3 Distinction in Horticulture and I'm also a somatic practitioner — which basically means I'm equally passionate about what grows in the soil and what shifts in your nervous system when you slow down and pay attention to it. I created this space because I believe gardening is more than a hobby. It's a path to feeling calmer, more present, and more connected — to nature and to yourself. Here's what you'll find here: 🌿 Seasonal growing guides and practical gardening tips 🌿 Mindful practices you can take into your garden or outdoor space 🌿 My own garden transformation — from total mess to something beautiful, all on a budget 🌿 A warm community where dead plants are welcome and perfect lawns are not required This is a space to share what you're growing, what you're noticing, and how the garden is making you feel. No pressure, no performance — just soil, stillness, and good company. Introduce yourself below! Tell us: 🪴 Your name and where you're based 🪴 What your garden looks like right now (honestly!) 🪴 One thing you hope to get from being here So glad you're here 💚

Hello Mercedes and friends! I'm from Virginia, US, and recently became the owner of 5 acres, mostly wooded, but with raised garden beds and flower beds around the house that need a lot of help. I have little experience gardening, but a lot of experience with mindfulness. I can tell that gardening is deep (literally and figuratively), symbolic, and nourishing for body and soul. When I get my hands in the dirt, I feel I'm getting to know a new friend - the land. It has received me, and I am receiving it, and hopefully we will take good care of each other. So nice to see this community that regards the natural world as both a playground and soulful studio.
