Substack share - So you signed with an agent - what now? ...

Sharing links for those who are curious, to learn more on this aspect of traditional publishing. The second link shines a light on what happens after your agent has received an offer from a publisher.
New Category to post in - 'Book Links & Publications'
To make it easy for us to share and find books written by and publications featuring our members, I've created a new category called 'Book Links & Publications' for you to choose when you add your post. Here's the template to follow TITLE: [Your Name] - Shared Book Links BODY TEXT: Add your genre. Then simply drop your book links et voila! Please update your posts whenever you have any book news or new releases. And, when we have read any of our members' books, please remember to leave a review on the site you purchased from - every review helps! And of course, feel free to leave a comment or copy the review into the comments for that member's book links to help others discover it, too.

@Tracy Stewart Fabulous idea! Thanks Tracy.
Your Writing Wins (Big or Small)
Let's do something a little different today. Let's take stock of what you've actually accomplished as a writer this year. In these in-between days, as we both reflect on what has passed and look forward, share one writing win from 2025 - and it can be ANY size. - Finished a draft (or a chapter, or a scene) - Started a project you'd been avoiding - Joined this community - Wrote more consistently - Figured out your process - Published something - Gave yourself permission to write badly - Showed up even when it was hard All wins count here. Drop a comment and let us celebrate with you. And if you're struggling to think of a win, tell us that too. Sometimes just showing up is the win.

Great question to begin the new year with! From a writing aspect, joining Substack in 2025, and publishing posts has been, and continues to be a win. Substack is proving to be a great place for developing my writing, and meeting other creatives. Prior to joining Substack, joining the W.R.I.T.E society in February 2025 has also been a win - enabling me to connect to fellow writers. l am gaining a wealth of knowledge from both platforms.
The Authority Paradox
Here's something non-fiction writers don't talk about enough: the fear that you're not "expert enough" to write your book. You've lived it. You've learned it. You've helped others through it. But somehow, when it's time to write the book, that voice shows up: "Who am I to write about this?" Today's discussion: What makes you 'qualified' to write YOUR non-fiction book? Not your credentials (though those count). Not your degrees or certifications. I'm talking about: ➤ The problem you've actually solved ➤ The transformation you've lived through ➤ The questions people keep asking you ➤ The gap you see that nobody else is filling ➤ The story only you can tell If you'd like to share in the comments, feel free, because we all learn from each other. What's the real reason you're the right person to write this book? Sometimes we need to hear ourselves say it out loud before we believe it.

Great question, @Tracy Stewart ! When l first started out on my non-fiction writing journey, l constantly asked myself, 'Who am l to write a book, you're a graphic designer, not a writer' . Yet walking along this path, and with Tracy's support l have gained, and continue to build confidence as a writer. Life experience plays a fundamental role in my expertise. Seeing The Invisible Line - Creatively Connecting To Your Life's Flow, stems from a place of (creative) healing. l truly believe, only through experiencing such a transformation, could my personal growth book, (a blend of personal stories and creative healing tools), take shape, take flight in the way it has so far... Having the courage to step out of my comfort zone, and lead people in workshops and courses is incredibly rewarding and humbling. l am always touched by the ways participants interact with the Seeing The Invisible Line content, and how it is having a transformative impact on people's view of their own unique life path. People ask me all the time about the Seeing The Invisible Line's backstory...writing this piece (alongside Tracy's encouraging words after she had read it), wondrously led me to believe in my writing potential...'perhaps l can write after all'. Truth be told, moments of self-doubt do continue to creep up on me, yet when l look back on how far l've come, the pang normally subsides. Hopefully over time, building upon the workshops/courses, along with writing on Substack, IG, blogs, and talking on podcasts will lead to a publishing contract...or possibly the self-publishing route...let's see what happens - l choose to stay open to creative possibilities. On a closing 'who am l to write this book' note...it has been said 'there is nothing new under the sun, yet your life experience, your perspective, your story is unique'.

@Sandi Marsh great question, Sandi! l was invited to be a guest speaker on The Wilderness of Creativity podcast, via a Substack connection, and it was my first podcast experience. Currently don't have another podcast project on the horizon, yet l am always open to guest speaker opportunities. So please feel welcome to share possibilities.
