2 contributions to Learning with AI & Technology
One small win using technology
Think about a time that you used technology to help improve in some way. What technology did you use and what were the results? Or maybe you’re just getting started and you haven’t had a chance to use technology yet. Share your experiences here and I’ll reply to every comment.

One thing I'm finding extremely useful tech-wise is being able to talk to AI or to applications. It is far faster me talking to my phone than hand typing things. I'm using an Apple AI tool called Wispr that I'm finding very useful because it gets rid of all their 'ums' and 'ahs' and pauses and orders everything out. I would strongly recommend people have a look at AI dictation tools on whatever platform you are on because it will save a *heck* of a lot of time.

There are a few out there - Wispr Flow has impressed me the most so far, so I now have a sub. There’s a link here for that one if you want to try it https://wisprflow.ai/r/ELIOT28 Of course, the ones built into the LLMs themselves are pretty good- especially the ChatGPT one. Having ChatGPT read back is pretty good (far, far better than Siri on iPhone).
Introduce Yourself!
Welcome everyone 👋 Please feel free to introduce yourself by sharing just a few things—no long bios required: - Where you’re coming from (educator, student, professional, lifelong learner, curious human, etc.) - One way technology or AI currently shows up in your learning or work - One question, curiosity, or challenge you have around EdTech or AI right now That’s it. There’s no expectation that you have things figured out. “I’m confused but curious” is a perfectly valid starting point here. If you’re more of a reader than a poster, that’s okay too. You’re welcome to jump in whenever it feels right. 😊 I'm looking forward to building this community together! 🚀 👉 Please check out the calendar for my weekly Coffee Chat times ☕️ I’ll go first 👇 (Your turn when you’re ready — and feel free to reply to others as well!)

Kia ora koutou! I'm Eliot and am based in Aotearoa New Zealand having emigrated here from the UK back in 2012. I am now Director of Learning Innovation at a school here, previously a Head of Science here as well as in London for 20 years (!). I'm a writer (textbooks on science) and was the ICT Reviews editor for the Association for Science Education's journal School Science Review, which meant that I have always been keeping up-to-to date with tech in education. Here in New Zealand I created a course for year 9 and 10 students about AI, which has been running for 3 years now (one of the first schools to do this!). I'm also into gamified learning and the Science of learning. I teach Psychology, Biology, AI and robotics and general science. I am currently using a a variety of LLMs - ChatGPT, Gemini (plus NotebookLM, Gems etc), Claude and Perplexity (all paid versions) as well as other ones when I have the time. I am also playing with n8n automations. I'm a gamer, writer, skiier, kayaker and a geek. Looking forward to discussions and chats - it's great to find a community of like-minded people!

@Frank Bergdoll that will be welcome. I’m still doing some teaching but will be working with two schools on this over a 4 year period. The other school has zero experience with AI. Sounds like you have a very similar role!
