Marketing Tip #2
- Work on your PR and media kit, what is your message, motivation, relevance? Knowing this makes a huge difference. It undermines everything we do and how we show up in the world. Have you heard of Simon Sinek? Look him up for all that he's researched and shared about knowing our WHY. I've mentioned him here before but he's a big influence on my own path. It helps me to know what my core values are, what drives me, and that makes it easier to explain my work to others as well as for myself. Sinek writes: "The neocortex corresponds to the 'what' level. This part of the brain is responsible for rational and analytical thought and language. The middle two sections comprise the limbic brain, and are responsible for all of our feelings, like trust and loyalty. It is also responsible for all human behavior and all decision-making, but it has no capacity for language. When we communicate from the outside in, when we start with 'what', yes, people can understand vast amounts of complicated information... but it doesn't drive behavior." So, tell us in the comments below what is the message, motivation and relevance of your own creative work?

Great reminder, @Sarah Leamy, MFA Sinek’s "Why" is so powerful. My current project focuses on leveraging data-driven storytelling to humanize B2B brands, which is used for building genuine consumer trust and long-term loyalty. Right now, I'm currently analyzing consumer behavior insights to map out our Q3 campaign strategies. Thanks for sparking this reflection!

@Sarah Leamy, MFA Haha love that, Sarah. It just means using audience insights to find the human truth. I look at the data to see what people care about, and use that "Why" to tell stories that build real trust. Right now, I'm analyzing behavior trends to plan our next big campaign
Question for you~
How can we bring in more people here? I'd love to have around 100-200 members and keep it limited to that. The stats say that about 10% will be engaged, asking and sharing ideas and advice and the others still show up but are passive. I picture 20 active people wanting to be more creative, getting stuff finished, inspiring each other, learning from each other, being accountable, encouraging, well - that's my goal and my motivation for doing this group, paying the fees to Skool, researching ideas and adding content. It's all in the aim of helping us stay on track with our projects. Who can we invite? How do we find more friends that would fit this cohort we have here? Please help make this a group we ALL enjoy and benefit from.
Question for you~

@Sarah Leamy, MFA That makes total sense. Prioritizing that true sense of friendship right from the start means your core 20 members will be incredibly loyal and active. Sometimes the best communities start offline over a cup of coffee before they ever move to a digital dashboard

@James McDonald That’s completely fair, the industry makes it seem so complicated! The big difference is that traditional publishing takes almost all your profits and gives you a tiny 10% royalty. With self-publishing, it's free to upload, and instead of losing your shirt, you keep the vast majority of the profit, self published platforms just take a small printing cut when a copy sells. Keeping it in your classroom for now is a brilliant move to build your community anyway. What is the e-book about?

Morning folks! I've started recording videos of the writing classes I teach online, bits and pieces but this summer will be fairly busy hosting workshops. My question comes from that, what would you like more of here? I can share resources and 'classes' on these topics to start with and I'll add more as you request or as I teach them elsewhere. Which would you like next? What would help most? Pick a topic...

@Sarah Leamy, MFA Voted for marketing🙋‍♀️ Writing the content is one thing, but figuring out how to actually get it out into the world and build an audience is where so many creators get stuck. I would absolutely love to see your take on marketing tips for us
Welcome!
Hello and welcome to our new members this week, Siyon, Ken and Huzaifa! Have a look around and respond to comments, I've put no restrictions on this group so you start with full access to commenting, chatting, and much of the stuff in the Classroom. It's geared towards offering prompts to help you stop procrastinating and start making...as well as courses and information about writing since that's my professional experience as a writer, editor and publisher. Let me know if you have any questions. I hope that the daily posts get you thinking and creating and sharing your process. It's surprising how doing just that can make all the difference for someone else. Thanks and stick around! I have videos coming on the topic of revision and character development for the fiction writers here. Say hello and feel free to share your links so we get to know you a bit. Cheers!
