Hello!
Old brown belt here nursing an MCL injury. I’m a paying member now and looking forward to getting back to it. I’m still trying to figure out which positions are feasible for me right now. Half-guard, for sure!

Awesome! Welcome Matthew! That’s great to hear I’m always excited for someone getting back on the mats especially after an injury, hats off to you my man. And yes half guard is awesome and will be a big focus. I’ll have even more time for you personally as one of our first paying members since we launched 2 weeks ago! Very excited to work together. 🤝
Week 1
What’s up guys!!! Hope you all have been enjoying the first week of the structured training! Tell me in the comments about how you like it, any wins you’ve had, questions, struggles all are welcome.

@Trudeau Bourque I’ve got a video exactly about that on my YouTube channel https://youtu.be/DoDGHC3Ob0E?si=kJS2Tz_ydnHkhQ01
Lessons From West Coast Trials
Surprisingly, as you guys may have seen - no Kingsway athletes (Gordon Ryan’s gym) were the west coast trials champions. This goes back to what I was referring to in the introduction video. Everything is an open secret now. The playing field is being leveled. It’s no longer enough to just train at a super gym. Everyone has all the secrets and all the counters to every counter. What matters more is the intelligent coaching and programming that produces success on the big stage. Many people from non-super gyms ended up being champions because information is available to everyone, but intelligent personalized coaching is not. What are your guys thoughts on this?

@David Tullier I started my jiu jitsu journey in Chicago about six years ago, after finally admitting to myself that I had no clue what to do in an altercation 😂 so it was purely for self defense and self improvement. Those first two year I was super inconsistent and would show up abut a month at a time and then leave for a couple on and off again. After covid time when Chicago was completely shut down for 8 months or so I got back into it and became obsessed and it completely took over my life. I fell in love with the martial artist ideal and wanted to pour all my time into one of the few things I found myself truly talented at and passionate about (you find less and less of them as you age imo). Now I do it because I think it’s what I love the most and can’t think of any better way to spend my time but everyone’s journey is different! I built out this course because I love teaching and building community within this passion of mine, and I saw a huge hole in the BJJ world or professional training structure and wanted to offer that exploit to others. What about yourself?

@Trudeau Bourque definitely a good point man - they can’t be under the illusion that they can be spoon fed everything by a legendary coach

@David Tullier awesome my man! Yes that’s what it’s all about in this new program I’m building out. We are working on the skills that are easy to implement but hard to be disciplined about and making intelligent programming to make it second nature to you. It’s all stuff that makes it really hard to do anything to you and opens up all your offense. Glad that you’re here my man!

@Zach Webb nice man - glad you could join us! How long have you been training?
Reminder
If you just joined — don’t try to consume everything. Just do this:👉 Start the 2 Week Reset and focus on the first piece before your next training session Trust the process and watch it work its magic. One day at a time my friends. That’s where everything starts. Let me know if you have any questions!
