AFT/CFT Fitness Standards
1. Key Changes ā¢Establishes the Combat Field Test (CFT) as a required Army fitness assessment. ā¢Updates the Army Fitness Test (AFT) to align with modernized fitness standards. ā¢Confirms that the CFT does not replace the AFT, both remain required. 2. Combat Field Test (CFT) Overview ā¢Applies to all Soldiers in combat specialty (MOSādesignated / some added). ā¢Pass/Fail only ā no numerical score. ā¢Conducted as a continuous event with total time determining pass/fail. ā¢All events must be completed in sequence; failure to complete any event results in automatic failure. 3. CFT Events (In Order) a. 1āmile run b. 30 deadāstop pushāups c. 100āmeter sprint d. 16 Ć 40ālb sandbag lifts to a 65āinch platform e. 50āmeter farmerās carry (2 Ć 40ālb water cans) f. 50āmeter movement drill ā¢25m high crawl ā¢25m rush g. Final 1āmile run **Emphasis on combat realism, fatigue management, and functional strength. 4. Uniform Standards ā¢Army Combat Uniform (ACU) ā¢Boots ā¢No headgear 5. Testing Frequency Requirements ā¢Active Duty / AGR / Soldiers on >365āday orders ā¢1 Ć CFT and 1 Ć AFT annually ā¢Other Reserve Component Soldiers ā¢Alternate annually between AFT and CFT ā¢Minimum time between record tests: ā¢Active / AGR: 4 months ā¢RC not on orders: 8 months 6. Profiles & Medical Considerations ā¢Permanent profiles (combat MOS) ā¢If unable to perform the AFT ā ineligible for CFT ā¢May trigger MOS reclassification review ā¢Temporary profiles ā¢Follow profile guidance ā¢No modified CFT events authorized 7. Implementation Timeline ā¢1āyear transition period ā¢During transition: ā¢No adverse actions solely for CFT failure ā¢After transition: ā¢Failure results in flagging and possible MOS reclassification 8. Failure & Administrative Actions ā¢First failure ā¢Immediate flag ā¢Enrollment in reconditioning program ā¢Retest timelines ā¢Active / AGR: 90 days ā¢RC not on orders: 180 days ā¢Second failure ā¢Enlisted: separation or reclassification ā¢Officers: elimination or branch transfer 9.
