In-between work, house clearing and packing, the hounds had the final race of the season. They both had great starts considering the weather and ground being slight wet at the start. Unfortunately Igor and Leah (my daughter) didn't finish as she rolled her ankle 1k in and they were brought back by car. Phoenix was fully in the zone and her and Ethan took home 4th. They have all done so well considering they are new to the competition scene.

I love these canicross posts so much.
Day 29,30
Day 5 of rest and we are all losing it a bit already so doing couple of scent searches to keep his mind active. He’s eating the hide again which is not great but watch him work through being worried! He hates the kids riding their scooters on the street because they often bang the fence. He looks and then gets right back into it and I really like his body language in the end. Huge win! 🀩 I’m having my first ever public Zoom talk for a dog trainers membership group based in Perth tonight. All about SAT and behavior so it’s a topic I love but still soooooo nervous! Wish me luck ☺️

Oh, I must have missed something. What's up with his foot?
DAY 132
Great it stopped raining for a few hours, managed to get out in the garden, for some heel work on lead, and recall training, also walking though a gate, calmπŸ˜† just walking in and out, Maggi always does well and k owes what to do except when we’re out and she still barks at other dogs walking past, I tried look at me and everything to keep focus on me, but any tile would be helpful as Maggi is always looking and focus is gone from me.

It is helpful to be able to break the focus on the other dog. The easy way to do this is to teach the lead pop = focus. Best to do this on a collar. To do this start with no distractions, do a little pop on the lead and then reward. Then just repeat this until it's conditioned well, you pop and her focus is on you immediately. Then you can begin to add distractions.

@Bex Haskins It will take some practice to condition it first. 100 reps is a good rule of thumb. Not all in one session of course.

Crufts is coming up soon. Who's going? If you're not, do you plan on following on the telly?
