I find double knit easier to learn how to read and do charts especially with two different colors. There is also a thing called extreme double knit which i guess instead of a mirror image on the back it makes both side the exact same (meaning if you make something with words the words read the same on both sides) I have not tried extreme double knit but lattes and llamas have charts that have a crochet double knit and extreme double knit chart to do (they also have free double knit charts if you go to their GAL tab)
