One of the hardest parts about trying to build a business when you haven’t made any money yet is that you have almost no evidence you’re making the right decision. You haven’t made the money. You don’t have the customers. You don’t have the success story. You might not even know if the thing you’re working on right now is going to work. Meanwhile, it’s incredibly easy to look at someone who’s already successful and think they must have known something you don’t. But at some point, they had no evidence either. I think this is where mindset matters way more than people give it credit for. You have to be able to work when the results aren’t validating you yet. You have to be willing to learn something for months that might not pay you immediately. You have to keep improving when nobody cares what you’re building. And you have to separate “this hasn’t worked yet” from “this is never going to work.” That doesn’t mean blindly believing every idea you have is going to make you rich. Sometimes your idea sucks. Sometimes you need to change direction. Sometimes you’re doing the wrong thing entirely. But if you need proof that you’re going to succeed before you’re willing to seriously try, you’ll probably never stay with anything long enough to create that proof in the first place. There’s a period where all you really have is your willingness to keep learning, working and figuring shit out. I think being able to survive that period is one of the most important parts of building anything from zero.
