Great to meet you all!
I'm Tom Cook. Long time trombone player, but only now in my 68th year do I have some flexibility in my schedule to work on it. Excited to learn new things and be part of this group.

Welcome, Tom!
Introduction
Hi everyone, My name is Anthony Mora, and I am a freelance trumpet player and pianist from Los Angeles. I'm excited to be a part of this community, and I look forward to getting to know and learn from you all. I come from a classically trained background, but jazz is what ultimately got me started to pursue a music career. My goal is to improve my improvisational skills so that I can confidently say "yes" to every opportunity that comes my way. Here's a transcription of Red Rodney's solo from "Blues for Alice" that I've been working on.

Reflections for Module #7 - The PRACTICE
Hey Cats, Here's the DOC from today's video. Recorded video can be found in the classroom tab. Homework is to post a clip of you practicing a tune with a limitation, and obviously tell us what that limitation is! This shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes. I'm going crazy and telling you to have this done by tomorrow night! 2/22 @ midnight (assuming you see this by then, otherwise ASAP!) Bb Blues Autumn Leaves Let's make some progresssss!!! Alex

Here's my limitation! I did two consecutive valve combos, (0 and 1 3). It's funny how it really forces you to slow down and think more
Better late than never!
Been having a lot of fun experimenting throughout the week. I notice that I hover around the b3 a lot, and I like the playing with the 6 and b7 too. It's crazy how much more comfortable and confident I feel after just a few days of learning

@Alex Mazur thanks Alex!
Materials from THE BLUES #1
Hey Everyone, SO fun to have you all together finally. Looking forward to seeing your skills develop together. Here is the lesson doc with all the notes from today. You'll find the backing tracks and the chord sheets here too. Assignment #1 - Be so familiar with the Bb blues scale that you could sing blues ideas in the car while you're driving to HadesTown rehearsal. Assignment #2 - Before Saturday's meeting, find the time to post a clip of you bluesin' it up here. Comment on some other people's vids. DON'T try to play anything TOO wild, keep tone & time at the forefront. In other words, play ideas that are basic enough to allow you to make a good sound on your instrument. Send me a text so I have your number too!:) -Alex Mazur
